Yyyyyyiiikkkkeeeeessssss.

WOW!

This is shocking!

My sentiments as well.

OMG....Beechwood was pre-season top 20.

Is there a story behind this game? Or was Beechwood just over-ranked?

CM

That will leave a mark.

Bieger was a great player, no doubt, but there has to be more to it than just that, right?

Hope Mustang posts a box score.

I saw in another thread that Bieger wasn't playing for the Tigers this year, and if this is true that's a big loss for them as he was an engine that never stopped. For them I can see that as losing some much needed leadership qualities.

Brossart was up 37-30 at halftime & 57-48 after 3.

Draud had 24.

Apparently there were issues with condensation on the floor.

Just piecing together info from Twitter.

Tonight was a great example of a Team win. From the starters to the bench, every player made a contribution in this game. Great win Mustangs!

Schirmer for Brossart was a stud in this one. High motor kid!

A total team win for Brossart.

Brossart was really able to extend the lead once they decided to start rebounding.

Beechwood's seniors last year were hugely underrated and won't be replaced easily. That coupled with Bieger quitting will make it tough for Tigers. Anyone know what happened with Bieger? Shame in his senior year.

After riding out a Beechwood shooting storm in the first quarter that saw them hit 3-threes, 5 twos, and a free throw to lead 20-15, the Mustangs limited the Tigers to a single field goal in the second period, while outscoring the 22-10, and then continued the trend into the second half, where we were dominant 43-25.

Scotty Draud got his 24 on 7/12 from 2pt, and 1/8 from beyond the arc.

Brossart had two players exceed 20 points - Ethan Eilerman 22, and Carson Schirrmer 21. We also got a big preformance from sophomore big man David Govan who was 5 of 5 in close and finished with 11. Big support efforts also tonight from Scot Prebles and Blayke Kremer.

Junior Guard Stephen Verst who scored 29 vs Harrison County, contributed a pair of three-pointers in this one, but pulled down 13 rebounds and doled out 6 assists.

Re the condensation "issue". While it was cool and sticky in there, there was no steam on the outside doors, nor did the wall behind me sweat, which normally accompanies the rare condensation issues that we have had in our gym.

Both teams have tough next out opponents. Beechwood gets NCC in Fort Mitchell Tuesday night. The Mustangs travel to Latonia for a date with the Holy Cross Indians on Wednesday.

Box Score: BB: Verst 0-2-0/0-6, Prebles 3-0-1/2-7, Martin 1-0-0/0-2, Schirmer 6-0-9/9-21, Leicht 2-0-1/1-5, Kremer 0-2-0/0-6, E.Eilerman 6-2-4/4-22, Govan 5-0-1/4-11

Totals: 23-6-16/20-80.........2-2.........1-2

Downton 2-1-1/2-8, Busald 0-2-0/0-6, Moore 0-0-4.4-4, Decker 1-0-0/0-2, Hergott 0-1-0/0-3, Hughes 2-0-4/8-8, Draud 7-1-7/9-24

Totals: 12-5-16/23-55.............1-2.............0-1

Absolutely entertaining game from Brossart's perspective. One of the most complete team efforts you can put together. The "condensation" issue was overblown. I understand the concern for player safety and the pause for discussion on the issue was ok. Earlier in the game, there was some water spilled by Beechwood's water jug and players had been walking through it which resulted in a few slips. Secondly, several players, including some that sweat way more than others had fallen to the ground and I do not think it was wiped up well enough by the referees. They paused the game and had a discussion. They made the right decision to play on. The Freshman boys team from Brossart stood on both ends of the floor being sure to wipe up anything they saw. We played the entire 4th quarter with no slips or issues.

Hope Brossart can carry this momentum as they play Holy Cross, Ludlow, and Paris this week looking to get that winning % above .500
