Travel day and game day all in one for the Tigers. This game is a challenge only equaled by Beechwood's games versus Covington Catholic and Somerset. This is a young Beechwood team. I cannot remember the last time Beechwood had two freshmen playing key roles with the starting lineups. More than half the starting players are sophomores and freshmen. All those young players now have a season of experience.

 

Beechwood played its best game of the year last week versus West Carter. They will need to play even better today to hang with Mayfield. They need to finish drives, prevent Mayfield from having big plays and win the turnover battle. The last time a young Beechwood team no one expected to win a final four game played was four years ago. That team shocked everyone, including most Tiger fans by overcoming their youth and winning a state title. Beechwood fans have to hope for the same today. It will be a shocker if they win but stranger things have happened.

 

The things we know are Beechwood will be well coached and disciplined. They will execute the game plan to the best of their ability. The will believe in each other and fight their hearts out for each other. When you do all those things, great things can happen. Go Tigers!

 

I know of Campbell playing a very intricate role for the Tigers, who is the other freshman? This team is very young, as well as graduating a decent amount of big time role players. While I hope the job gets done tonight, I think it’ll just be a foreshadowing of what the underclassmen can accomplish in future years, if they continue to work hard! Roll tigers! Mayfield is battle tested, always plays a great schedule, including a good team out of Memphis, Paducah Tilghman, McCracken County, and Madisonville North-Hopkins. All very good teams.

I would say those are decent teams but not on the same level as teams BW has played. I will stick to BW being the best team they will have played. I believe BW will also be the most well coached team they will have played. This game could go either way.

Ii am by no means a Mayfield fan. I have great respect for the program and have seen this year's team play twice. You say Beachwood "hung with" Covington Catholic for a half? They list 49-3. Having seen Somerset on video, against BW, Stinson, Mayfield's QB, will take shots at your secondary, their RB, Gailbreath I think is his name, has breakaway speed, and their receiving Corp will compare favorably against any team Beachwood has played. Having seen the scores on the KHSAA website, I change my score to 63-3. Beachwood is really good and a great program, but they are a year or 2 away in my opinion.
