1A State Championship: New Cath 37 Danville 34

Actually, did pay a visit last year and liked your facilities, especially the asphalt track that ran through the end zone. The artificial dirt field was an added plus as well. My mistake, that was the Newport High School facility where you played your games. I guess you were out of funds for your own field, maybe to assist the "needy" students. I understand. Great team either way. Congrats again.
We have no football field, our baseball field is 5 miles away, soccer's 10 miles away.

Our facilities are obviously not the draw for students, the family atmosphere and tradition are.

Newport High School put about 80,000 dollars into THEIR facilites in the offseason, no more track through the South endzone and a nice new paint job. And FieldTurf.

I can assure you one thing, no "funds" go to pay for students to go to NCC. If you think otherwise, i feel very very sorry for you for believing things that were told to you by the uninformed.

And that's the last I will comment on it, since you are trying to take something away from these kids and this amazing game.

We got it done on the field:dancingpa that's all that matters.

Sounds like a great game. Congrats to NCC for pulling out the win. Way to represent NKY football!!

You guys play well and to have a comeback against Danville like that is commendable at any time. A well deserved title.

We certainly know what it's like to be o nthe other side of this, so a definite congratulations to the Admirals, heck of a year, we know how much it sucks to be so close and not bring it home, and thats what makes these last years oh so sweet! I have no doubt that we'll be seeing plenty of each other in 2A in the years to come!

WOW! Still can't get over it. WHAT A GAME!

Thanks Bro!

Thought NCC dominated the game other than a few miscues. The ads got some athletes but alot of them were fighting to get to the heater most of the game, thought they were a little flat out there. Danville had the ball under a minute to go, and I counted 17 ads lined up on the heater???

Random thoughts:

1. At the time NCC fans were upset with the replay that showed the Danville receiver come down with his foot out of bounds on the TD that gave Danville a 34-17 lead .......but in hindsight that 17 point lead allowed Danville to go conservative and run the ball (rightfully so). That stopped Danville from throwing the ball and their passing game was really clicking at the time behind some great catches and allowed NCC to get some stops.

2. The roughing the kicker call on Danville was the correct call. It is often a misunderstood rule and a rule many people do not like. Basically the punter can drop the ball, roll it around, run 15 yards backward, run 10 yards forward, and if he kicks it and you don't get a piece of it....it is roughing the kicker.

3. Both teams seemed to struggle with the TV timeout guy holding up play. That's expected since high school games don't normally have TV timouts.

4. NewCath had another brain cramp and decided to have the placekicker kick it off deep when up 10-0. Same thing happened when they did that at Beechwood, an untouched TD. After that back to the LB kicking off to a spot on the field.

5. Really thought NCC was about to knock Danville out in the first half leading 17-7 but Danville had a great play call on the screen pass to cut it to 17-14. Then when NCC moved the ball but ran out of time at the end of the half I thought Danville really got a lift.

6. The only time Danville really sent the house was when they were up 34-31 on second down. They nearly got to the NCC QB and did force an uncomplete pass. They sent everybody again on 3rd down and NCC had the right play called and Vicars was gone on the screen pass.

7. Louisville city management needs to have police direct traffic in and out of the stadium. An usher told me the AA game had people fighting in the streets because of the gridlock. With games spaced four hours apart it shouldn't be that hard to get 5000 people in and out quickly.

8. I'm going to guess that championship games played in mid-December in the future can't be any colder than today.

Congratulations to the Danville Admirals on another title game. Sorry it didn't go your way this time. We were all pulling for you in Mercer. You guys are the flagship program of our area and you gave all of CKY a reason to be proud yet again.

Amazing ,Amazing ,Amazing . That has to be the best high school football game I have ever seen Both teams had a chance to win this one Congrats to NCC and To Danville on one ____ of a game .

It seemed like the turning point was when it was 34-17 and NCC recovered a Danville fumble.

You are right on this one. Some parents of players in the STATE CHAMPIOSHIP GAME did not get to the stadium until the end of the first quarter!!!

Absolutely RIDICULOUS.

Oh, and the fight was right in front of us. Good one too.:fight:

Good job Ft.Thomas Catholics.......... :ylsuper:

This years team was an ecclectic mix. It wasn't as Ft. Thomas dominated as previous years.

On rule # 2 the ball was touched! I have heard that the coaches have already been watching it on film and the ball was clearly blocked!

I haven't seen the replay yet but I will see it over the next few days so I'll let you know what I see.
