Fastbreak
I know I'm wasting my energy posting this, but the elections (before and after) had virtually zero influence on gas prices. I realize it's not as exciting as a dark conspiracy, but that's about all there is to it.
Habib
I think the elections did affect gas prices. But I don't think it was a 'dark conspiracy' headed by our president but more along the lines of gas companies not wanting gas prices to be an election issue. But who knows, right. Jumper_Dad
Where is it up? It is still $2.06 in Somerset. :ylsuper: I did see $2.26 in London but that was right off of I-75. I think Thanksgiving has more to do with it than who won the elections.
ladiesbballcoach
It raised about 8-12 cents in my part of the world.
HHSDad
supply and demand. its econ 101. That ain't working. OPEC has a glut of oil and prices have dropped below $60/bbl. I'm guessing that it has more to do with the oil companies gouging us during the holidays like they do every year.
Fastbreak
Ted Koppel had a special on the Discovery Channel the other night on Iran. Citizens there pay 30 cents a gallon for gasoline.

I think Thanksgiving has more to do with it than who won the elections. It's always more expensive at the north (KY 80/DB Parkway) exit in London. On the south end (KY 192) it was in the $2.06-$2.08 range most everywhere until this morning, but many of those stations have shot their prices up to $2.29. There are still some places — generally in the US 25 area near South Laurel HS — where the gas is still in the $2.06-$2.07 range. I expect they'll be shooting theirs up as well, but they may wait to see what the places in Corbin do.

pthsfan
In Paducah it went up 5 cents the day after elections, after staying at about 2.05 for WEEKS. Then dropped back to 2.05 and here in the last week it went back up to 2.15. I do agree that thanksgiving has a role in this but to me it didnt look to great when it went up the next day.
