Considering he is one of the top couple guys in the entire world, at his chosen profession, how can you say for sure he's not "worth" that much money? The team he plays on is valued at nearly $2 billion. Trout's annual contract is about 2% of the teams total worth. Don't get me wrong...Trout is making an obscene amount of money. But on an annual basis, what he's making is just a drop in the bucket of what the Angels are valued at, and just a tiny, tiny portion of MLB as a whole.

March 19, 20197 yr I love everything about this contract. No drama. No Boras. Trout gets a deal done the way that you would expect Trout to do it. The previous hyped up contracts are blown out of the water. Harper and Stanton might even feel they got less than they should have after this deal. Trout stays with his original team. Trout absolutely should be getting a clearly better contract than these other recent deals. I love everything about this.
March 19, 20197 yr The best thing about this is the Scott Boras factor. It's not that someone else eventually got a bigger/better deal than his client (Harper)...it's that it came so soon afterwards. Harper owned the record for what, two weeks? Love it!

Athletes are taxed based on where games are played, not where they live. So home, Padres, Dodgers, Giants and A's games all get full rate or about 100/162nds of his earnings get state bit. Cali will do fine.
