Top Ranked Conference teams

 

SEC = 5 (3 in the top 10)

ACC = 5 (could be 6)

Big 10 = 3 (all in the top ten)

BEast = 3

PAC 10 = 2

 

One could argue the ACC is the best this year, but Georgia and South Carolina are both probably better then the ACC's only other good team ------Maryland.

 

 

But really, which conference is Better then the SEC or the ACC??

 

Of course USC schedules more OOC - they have to.

And Notre Dames? Ugh. Awful schedule.

 

9 SEC teams are ranked in the top 50 for SOS!

2 are in the top 10.

 

Mississippi, Vanderbilt & Miss States schedules are some of the toughest in the land.

USC = #48 just above Air Force.

 

UK, Tenn, Georgia, South Caralina, Miss, Miss St. Vandy all have tougher schedules.

I never said you couldn't argue that the SEC was the best...what you can't do is ridicule the Pac-10 in doing so...that's where you lose your leg to stand on, because you're splitting hairs when you compare those conferences.

It doesn't mean that much when 2 of the games are matchups of top tier SEC teams against middle of the pack Pac-10 teams. In the other two games it was a split...

 

...but please, let me reiterate. You think the SEC is the best. That's fine. You can make a good case for it. But, spare trying to tell me that it is far superior than the Pac-10 or any other conference (besides the ACC this year). It's not. I'm as big an SEC homer as there is, but forgive me for not being overly impressed with it this year. Kentucky has a chance to finish second in the SEC East for goodness sake...that right there ought to be a red flag for anyone trying to claim the SEC is far better than the rest...

Maybe the SEC is overrated. This debate could go on forever. But maybe everybody is talking about how it's overrated because everybody already knows the other conferences pretty much suck anyway and thererfore not overrated. I'm not really impressed with any other conferences. Personally I don't think it's overrated. I think the reason the lesser teams win so often is because the better team is tired from playing a great team the week before, or maybe they're coming off a big win and have a let down. The SEC has 5 top 25 teams. The Pac 10 has 2. The third place team in the Big 10 is about as overrated as anybody. The ACC doesn't have anybody higher than 16. The Big East only has 3 teams worth mentioning. I'm a Nebraska fan and I don't think the Big 12 is worth much either.

 

The SEC will have 9 out of 12 teams with at least 6 wins. That's not too shabby. You can talk about SOS if you want to, but it's a weak argument since the rest of the conferences pretty much schedule the same way.

Some of these media guys are something else. Im guessing someone asked Meyer about a Michigan-Ohio St rematch and he gave his opinion. Whats wrong with that? Also, why criticize UF for beating South Carolina? They got the win over a team with one of the greatest college coaches ever. Also, why criticize Florida for playing Western Carolina. Everyone has a cupcake or 2 on their schedule, Florida had 2. Southern Miss was this year, but usually they are pretty good. Another lousy columnist article.

Yeah, if KY finishes second in the SEC East, that absolutely means the SEC is weaker than it has been in some time. I'm pretty sure the majority would agree with that.

This guy is a flaming idiot. David Letterman has said before that any idiot can get a tv show. I guess it's also true that any idiot can get a newspaper column. This guy makes very little sense at all. First of all, Nebraska is in the Big 12 NORTH. Not the South as he referred to. Second, I don't understand what Utah has to do with this. Sure, they got in the Fiesta Bowl because of the BCS. But if my memory is correct, they laid a beat down on Pitt. I would say that Utah team could have given some other BCS conference champs a run for their money that year. Florida may have a weak OOC schedule, but it's not different really than Michigan. Besides, how long has it been since Florida State has sucked this bad? This is the worst year Bowden has ever had, isn't it? So that shouldn't be Florida's fault. They tried to schedule a tough team and that team ended up stinking, they shouldn't be criticized for it. It's not like Florida is the first and only team to schedule weak teams. He complained because they scheduled Western Carolina in November. Big deal. Michigan scheduled Ball St in November. I don't see any difference.

 

However, even if Florida wins out, which I don't think they'll beat Arkansas, but if they do and USC wins, it's a moot point. I think if USC beats ND, and I expect them to, USC will jump UM. I don't see Florida jumping UM, regardless of what they do.
