In my opinion, the WORST match-up for Beechwood is the oncoming train from Union.

 

I loved Sully's chance of winning halftime, he did, and Cooper exerted their will in the 2nd half.

 

Solid double digit win for the Jags.

 

Really good year for the Birds, and they will be back, great classes in the funnel.

Cooper defense turns it up in the 2nd half and finds some offensive rythm. Looking like Spencer will need a few stitches but sure he’ll be back on Friday.

Before the game, I was kind of disappointed, thinking that Cooper had no student section, and that Highlands had 2 student sections—one on each side of the court. Then someone told me that the Cooper kids were all in blue tonight, to support the Highlands community. I looked closer, and I recognized some of the Cooper students wearing blue. Man—I’m so dang proud of those kids!

I was at the game and it was the first time I had seen either team. Spencer scored 1 point but was still the MVP for Cooper IMO. He did a great job battling Sisson inside. Sisson is just a horse inside and Spencer made him work for everything without fouling. I was very impressed with Cooper's defense overall. They made HHS work for EVERY shot. I would guess Spencer will guard Draud in the semis...if so, it will be tough for Draud. I saw him tonight too and was very impressed...but my guess is that Spencer will make things much tougher for him than Dixie did tonight.

We were wondering why the Jags were wearing blue tonight...now that I know, as an HHS grad and fan, I am very impressed.

Very nice gesture by the Cooper students. Many fans in the crowd of all teams wore blue hearts and there was a moment of silence for Lili before the game.

Spencer will most likely never be the leading scorer for Cooper but he will guard the opponents best player night in and night out. Spencer will guard Draud again just like their first meeting back in December when he held him to 10 pts but that was then and Friday will be another tough task for Spencer guarding him so he’ll have to show again why he’s the 9th Region defensive POY.

 

BW is the hottest team in the tourney so I look for this game to be very very good.

Love it when principal Mike Wilson leads the student section in that one cheer—where they mimic him and go left/right/up/down/etc. Is there any other principal who does that?

I doubt it. He’s a great man and leader. Mike greets the students every day they arrive at Cooper no matter of weather conditions. I like his style. Congrats to Cooper on the hard fought win. They will be tough to beat!
