Cooper 47 Highlands 37 (9th Region Quarterfinals)

Glad the second half was better basketball, I had to leave at half time thinking it was the worst half of basketball I've seen in a long time.

I know the season didn't end the way they wanted, but I love what Highlands is building under Coach Listerman. Every year since he has taken over you can see improvements. The future is bright in Fort Thomas.

Depends what you consider good basketball. If the game was 60 to 58 at halftime, you may have said it was good basketball. When there is a lot of offense, hardly anyone ever says it's bad basketball. When in reality if teams are scoring a lot of points, that means defenses arent playing well. Which imo it can't be called good basketball if defenses are not doing anything to slow an offense down.

Coopers defense is one of the best in the state. So they are usually going to make other teams offenses look bad. Highlands defense also did a great job in the first half. So it wasnt imo as much bad basketball, as it was two very good physical defenses in the first half. Making it very hard for either team to do much. Coopers defense in the second half was also just as good as in the first half.

Best looking Highlands team I have seen in a while. A lot of credit goes to Ben Sisson. I love the way he plays, his intensity, his leadership on the court and the way he wants the ball. He is one of my favorite players to watch this year in the region.

Couldn't agree more with your post. Must have been @BB guy first time seeing Cooper play as for the last 8 years this team has done nothing but play grind it out defense and try to score 1 more point than the opponent. Additionally HHS has played great defense most of year as well so the game was destined to be a low scoring affair. Congrats to HHS for a good season and they are certainly headed back to being a force in the region.

Completely agree.

Sure the average fan might like to see more scoring, but watching a team relentlessly prohibit another from scoring is what it's all about. Gotta love it when a team is so focused and tough as nails to do just that.

Thanks to the Cooper students and community for demonstrating compassion and support during a difficult time.

Congrats on the win and good luck!

The average fan doesn't want to see a 15-13 score at half. If you like teams more skilled on defense than offense that's your choice, but I would bet you enjoyed the second half much more.

All too often, high school teams are all about the almighty point guard—the most talented guy on the team. Keep feeding him the ball and let him showcase his skills for all the college recruits to see. Everyone else on the floor is his supporting cast.

No thanks. Give me a team that works together cohesively, where it’s not about one guy getting his stockpile of buckets night after night. That’s what I want to see.
