I predicted Highlands to win this one. Newport made me a liar. Congrats to ya Wildcats. We used to be neighbors.

Hope Newport doesn't draw Covcath 1st rd.

Maybe they will draw Conner, that was a great game early in the season.

Newport didn’t lead til mid 4th quarter.

Any word on the Sisson Vs. Harding matchup?

It was a closely contested game throughout with mini-runs on both sides. Turnovers and ill-timed fouls were HHS's Achilles heel tonight. The deciding play of the game was the phantom foul on Sisson's put back that I thought was going to be an "and-one". Instead they called a foul on Sisson on the box out (got to admit I didn't see one) and Newport hit two free throws and held on to win. I have seen Newport twice now and am impressed with their deliberate approach to the game. Best of luck in Region to both teams. Either of these teams could take the title- as could a few others. Should be fun!

Wow, the 9th Region Tourney is going to be a war. Highlands/Cov Cath/Conner to play a district champ (Cooper/Newport/Beechwood). Going to be a great tournament, and I could see 2 or 3 runner ups winning in the first round with the right draw. St. Henry and Dixie could be interesting tonight as well. When is the draw for the 9th?

Usually on the Saturday or Sunday after the districts, I believe. Don’t know times, or when the bracket will be released.

Off topic, but since the Boys State Tourney is first shouldn't the draw be Saturday for Monday first round games? Not a lot of prep time if draw on Sunday, and 4 of the 8 have to play on Monday at BB&T.
