Nope. Adjustments are being made on one sideline and not the other. 5-6 on O and 1-5 on D on 3rd down yesterday in the 1st half. 0-6 on O and 8-9 on D in the 2nd half. If you want to get on Marvin, it's not getting it done out of the break when the game starts to change...

No, I think he is laying it on the Bengals lack of being able to make adjustments at halftime, along with the Bengals lack of an answer for their opponents adjustments. That is the reason for a lack of sucess in the second half this year, IMO.

But wouldn't that be back to YOUR argument? That would be the call of the coordinators to make adjustments. Marvin can't be making the adjustments on BOTH the offensive and defensive game plan at the same time.

At the half, that's part of his job. There are no plays being run, and no game to manage at that point. Get with Chuck and Bob, and talk about how you're going to be different from what they've seen. That's more of his job than calling every play on one side and neglecting the other...

Of course, I have never been in there but my understanding was that the offense and defense meet in their own little sections of the locker room and talk/deal with the OC and the DC. It doesn't seem like he would have a great deal of time to meet in some serious discussions with both groups.

With both groups? No, that's not what I said. Get with the OC and DC before they go to their group and talk things over. I guarantee that's what he does, as I've never seen a coach that didn't meet with his assistants when the half starts. Whatever they are talking about isn't working. I have a hard time believing there is a team worse than the Bengals in the 3rd Quarter this season...

That may be true this season, but as a whole Marvin made a big to do about the character of his players and then he turns around and does the complete opposite.

Marvin is convinced he can "change" them. It works with some, but not with most. I'll give you that...

Marvin IMO has shown to be not that great of a game coach, and that is something he needs to work on....

He specifically mentioned players trying to compensate for other players' mistakes which then results in them being out of position. He said it happened more than a few times.

The 3rd quarter is an easy thing to point to, but none of us knows what adjustments were made and if they worked.

 

Football is much too complex to say that the Bengals got outplayed in the 3rd quarter, therefore, their adjustments didn't work.

 

It was 28-7 at half, do you think the Bengals made many adjustments???? Not too many are made after that kind of half.

 

SD made some, but we don't know if they worked; every play they called practically worked; we don't know if they were adjustments, plays that weren't called in the 1st half, or the same plays that started working because the Bengals didn't execute.

Well we do know what the players tell us, and the Charger players even talked about the changes they made during halftime....

 

You would have a point about that with this game and a 21 point lead there might not be much adjustments made, but this is not the only time this has happened. Take a look at the stats of every game for the 3rd quarter for us, and then tell us if you think it has nothing to do with adjustments...
