This I could agree. But so much of that Monday-Saturday is extremely important and determines what plays Chuck calls. You think he is going to blitz on 10 of the first 20 plays if the game strategy (not play calling) that Marvin has had input on didn't call for blitzing on Rivers?

Most have a scrip to run for the first 10 to 20 plays from the week of preperation. In the scripted portion of yesterday's game, the Bengals were nearly flawless. From there, it's the guy in the box...

OK. Marv has huge input and Chuck calls the plays on Sunday. Therefore, Marv deserves part of the criticism as well.

If it was a one-game problem, I could get behind what you are saying. But the defense has not markedly improved over the 4 seasons. It is the schemes, the mindsets and yes the personnel. And to me, the defensive philosophy, schemes and mindsets are the Head Coaches role. The DC carries out that with the daily workings in practices and games.

To me, it is his inability to get the quality of players in here that is needed. He has had 3-4 offseasons and drafts to solve this problem and has not.
