Covington Catholic 25 Highlands 15

Featured Replies

Bottom line, CCH made plays and HHS didn't. Whether it was offense, defense or special teams. Good luck next week...

BTW, if CCH wins state this year has HHS won state or lost to the eventual state champion every year since Dale has been here?

94-CCH

95-BG

96-HHS

97-CCH

98-HHS

00-HHS

01-?

02-?

03-Boyle

04-HHS

05-LexCath

Just something I was wondering...

Not in 01 or 02. In 01 Highlands lost to CovCath, who lost to Rockcastle, who lost to Boyle.

In 02 Highlands lost to Rockcastle who lost to Boyle.

Impressive nonetheless, thanks. Still...Win State CCH

Anyone know why I omitted 99???

Fans of the Team from Ft. Thomas, I just hope you root us on next week, I know over the years when you knocked CovCath out, we or at least I rooted you on.......

See you all next year....it should be fun again....

Theoldguy - Thanks for taking the high road! :thumb:
While I enjoyed watching CovCath beating the Team from Ft. Thomas twice this season, I just wish some of our fans would realize that it has been since 1994 that we have beaten the Team from Ft. Thomas twice. Nobody's like a sore lossier, but I hate a poor winner too....

The Team from Ft. Thomas might have been a 7-5 team this year, but if they played in a different district, they wouldn't have gone down so soon.... So lighten up CovCath fans, enjoy the victory, don't put down the team from Ft. Thomas as for far too many years, it has been us who were looking from the outside in.

I'm just curious OldGuy. Why do you and so many other people refer to Highlands as "The Team From Fort Thomas". Give me a good mature reason and I'll admit you took the high road.

A few notes:CCH's kicker had his worst game of the year, but then again the expectations on him are ridiculous. I'm sure he will bounce right back.

I saw Popham's 56yd'er on TV and this was my first view in person, really can't blame the kid for barely missing a few 50+ yarders, just as good as a punt if he misses.

It came from Coach R when he came to CovCath last year. The Highlands game was and is the biggest game of the year for CovCath, and I think (I don't want to misquote him) but he said something like he wasn't calling them Highlands anymore but the Team from Ft. Thomas.

I'd be shocked if he intended for that to stick as a name. I think it's totally disrespectful to continuously refer to them as that phrase instead of calling them by their true name. I have never seen or heard him refer to them as that. He has total respect for them. How about with two wins under your belt this year over the Birds, people can find it in their hearts to start respecting this school instead of slamming them with that name.

I am as aware as anyone of how the rivalry has gone since 94 and especially how it has gone from 1998 forward.

Not sure how posting a team's record is putting that team down?

Sorry colonel-fan, but it didn't sound nice to me, and if it did to me, then it most probably did to them.... :D

Oh to be so young again....:D

Trust me, I have seen a lot of wins and losses against that Team from

Ft. Thomas but IMO (like anything the first time is still the best time)........:D"1969" the greatest CovCath game ever.......

Doesn't bother us in the least.

So you are a Grad, or went to the Independent Schools of Ft. Thomas?

Let's see, they are a team, and they are from Ft. Thomas. Yep it's really disrepectful.... BF, Sticky, Henry........I am so sorry for showing disrespect to your team......

I'm sure the Bird fans know their final record is 7 - 5. No one from the other side of the Licking seems to have taken offense to this.

I'm partial to the 1987 win myself.

Doesn't bother us in the least.

I don't mean to get off the subject. I just think it's strange and never knew why people do it.

I felt for the Highlands' seniors leaving the field today. Jordan Kramer is a great runner and commanded much attention no matter who he played against. I heard there were many good lucks in the hand shake line today. It's just the Colonels' turn. Just remember Bird fans, if CovCath does not win once in a while, it's no rivalry.

When Coach R came to CCH he told the team that when he went to visit Utah, their coach told him that they don't call their biggest rival by there name. But instead by the city they are located in.

Thanks, I knew it was something like that....but since it was a while ago, I didn't want to quote Coach R.........again thanks......:thumb:
