Doesn't bother us in the least.

I kind of like it, it's different. Keep on keeping on Oldguy and we'll be rooting for your Colonels to take it all!

When Coach R came to CCH he told the team that when he went to visit Utah, their coach told him that they don't call their biggest rival by there name. But instead by the city they are located in.

Also, it brings to mind Ohio State's Coach Hayes, who always referred to arch-rival Michigan as "the team up north," because he didn't want to dignify them by calling them by their proper name. I didn't know about the Utah story... that is interesting.

Simply put, The Colonels are the better team this year. There can be no argument. They played a great game today. They played a very tough schedule all year and they are peaking at the perfect time.

This is one Highlands fan that hopes Cov Cath brings home the AAA state title back home to Northern Kentucky, where it belongs!

Good luck Colonels!

Highlands and Boyle Co.are out of the picture, so Birdsfan, what are we going to do now?

I'm betting that both schools begin preparing for next year even before these playoffs end.

I thought Highlands would win this one. I said CCH could'nt beat them two times in a row boy was I wrong and ill be the first to admit it.

Bottom line, CCH made plays and HHS didn't. Whether it was offense, defense or special teams. Good luck next week...

BTW, if CCH wins state this year has HHS won state or lost to the eventual state champion every year since Dale has been here?

94-CCH

95-BG

96-HHS

97-CCH

98-HHS

00-HHS

01-?

02-?

03-Boyle

04-HHS

05-LexCath

Just something I was wondering...

They lost to CCH in 01 and to Rockcastle in 02.

A few notes:

Highlands punters (and for that matter most of their special teams) struggled today.

CCH's kicker had his worst game of the year, but then again the expectations on him are ridiculous. I'm sure he will bounce right back.

CovCath had so many oppurtunities to put this game away and didn't....if they want to win state they need to learn how to do that- teams will come back, as evidenced by LexCath's comeback from 35-7 against Franklin (correct me if I'm wrong).

Peter Sutton had an awesome game, he made a lot of tackles and of course had that spectacular touchdown.

Brandon Brown, once again, proved that he is the best football player in Northern Kentucky.

Blesser had another solid game, seemed to only miss two or three times.

32-7 but we won't hold it agianst you:D

Congratulations to Covington Catholic on your big win. (As I predicted.)

Good LUCK next week against Lexington Catholic.

Congratulations to Fort Thomas Highlands on a great season. Your total program from fans, coaches, to players is a first class program.

Article from Cincy Enquirer:

Colonels cut to chase: No late heroics this time as CovCath sweeps Bluebirds, advances in AAA

Two weeks after staging one of the most dramatic wins in program history, Covington Catholic saved the drama.

The Colonels beat rival Highlands 25-15 for a district title and the right to play in the Class AAA state quarterfinals. The victory came 15 days after CovCath upset Highlands on a last-second touchdown pass. Unlike in that game, the Colonels never trailed and largely controlled the tempo of the game Saturday at Wooten Field.

Congratulations to the Colonels. The team that deserved to win the game, won the game on Saturday. Well done!

As for Highlands, best wishes to the seniors, and for the underclassmen, the 2007 season starts TODAY. As always, win state in 2007... make it happen players and coaches! Go 'Birds!

Yes, and I'm sure plenty HHS supporters can rationalize an argument against CovCath being classy. The actions of a few individuals should not represent the whole school, or else every school would be considered classless.

No doubt.

Back to the game, I'm surprised Dale didn't utilize the short passing game more. It seemed it was a screen to Kramer or a 35 yard pass down field. Where was the intermediate passing game? Did CovCath take it away or do the Birds not attempt those throws? Also, didn't see a lot of adjustments from Highlands after halftime. Thought they would do some things differently in the second half.

If you are talking about there students. I cant really agree with you about the classy part.

I personally have seen nothing but class from Fort Thomas Highlands program. I have not attended a game at Fort Thomas Highlands but I can not imagine to expect nothing but the same. I would however expect some very zealost students.:thumb:

I just thought that Highlands felt overwhelemed. There was no way to cover all of the star players.
