Justin Fields Transfer to OSU

Featured Replies

Add me to the list of Fromm fans. I expect Fromm to be a top 10 pick in 2020 and I don't think Fields was good enough this year to beat Fromm out of the job.

Agreed.

Georgia is a title contender...If Fields would've given them a better chance at hoisting that trophy, he would've been the guy.

OSU ticked him off, bottom line.

Which everyone knew would happen....Why would anyone think otherwise?

Agreed.

Fromm is awesome but you all are way to low on Fields. He’s gonna surprise you all.

Fromm is good, obviously. But I'm not convinced Fields couldn't do what he's done at UGA...

Chances are Fields will have even better numbers than Fromm next year, and people will say "See he was better". However people will be completely ignoring how systems also can make QB's look better, especially in terms of stats. JT Barrett was not a great QB, but that OSU system allowed him to look great most of his career. However, there were plenty of other QB's who were better than him across the country, but numbers maybe weren't as great.

So I fully expect Fields to put up great numbers next year. I'm just pointing out now, it still won't prove he was better. As I stated I think we will see Fromm be the one who has a long and more successful NFL career.

Fields could have similar or better number than Fromm in UGA's system, IMO.

I'm curious... What exactly in Fromm's game do you see that makes you think he'll have a better NFL career than Fields?

So you think they intentionally played the lesser of the two QBs this year?

I'm not saying Fields should have started over Fromm THIS year... I mean, IMO, he could play over him next year if they gave him the opportunity.

For Fields to beat out Fromm he had to be A LOT better. When you want to beat the returning starter that took you to the title game and played well in that game, you better really stand out. I don't believe Fields did that. Fromm is an NFL type player who knows the system very well. He gave UGA the best chance to win. What kind of NFL career he will have is just speculation. Fields obviously didn't believe he could beat him out, or didn't want to take the chance of sitting another year, and went somewhere else. I believe UGA would have given Fields the chance to win the job.

Very well could be. And he would've been given that opportunity IMO.

I think they are pretty even. We saw last year that Saban continued to start Hurts over Tua. Smart is Saban made over so I’m not sure why it’s so easy to say that it’s automatic that the best player is the one playing. The player that is playing is the one the coach trusts more in both of those cases. The only reason Tua got his chance was because Jalen played so poorly that Saban was left with no choice. Trust is more important than talent when it comes to stubborn coaches and quarterbacks.

Good arm, accuracy, timing, smart, can make all the NFL throws, and seems to not be afraid of the big moment and makes plays when it matters. Plus playing in a pro style offense already. I just think he will be the next big qb in the NFL.

Fields has a stronger arm. It’s hard to compare accuracy in college to HS, but in his limited action throwing the ball this year Fields had a higher completion percentage and passer rating. Fields obviously is a better athlete. Leadership is probably the differentiating factor, but Fields hasn’t had the opportunity to show his leadership. For the record my affinity for Fields as a QB isn’t about him coming to OSU. I said Fields was better then Fromm the day he walked on campus and should have been the starter at UGA from day 1.

I take it you’ve watched none of Fields based on this.

I admit I only seen a little bit of his stuff from high school and then this year. He definitely is good. Imo and apparently in the Georgia's coaches opinions, he isnt better than Fromm though.

If the Georgia coaches thought he was better, but was to afraid to make a change as GrantNKY suggest. Then they would have went out of their way to promise him the starting gig next year, once they knew he was trying to transfer.

Fields is very good. I'm just saying some of you all are down playing how good Fromm is.
