USC finally loses to a PAC team. I beleive their strek was broken at 27. Tough stretch of games coming up for USC as well. I believe they have California, Oregon, and Notre Dame. EEKS.

SOOOOOOOO.. theoretically now we are looking at the winner of the Big East and the Big Ten playing for a nat'l championship?

 

I wouldn't be surprised to see the "Louisville-West Virginia-Rutgers" triangle all beat themselves, costing the whole conference chance at the national championship.

 

For instance:

 

Louisville beats West Virginia

Rutgers beats Louisville

West Virginia beats Rutgers

 

Now they are all three beat, none can play in the championship game, and only one wins the BCS berth. The Gator Bowl gets second pick from the Big East. Unless Louisville won the conference tiebreaker, they would very likely be playing in the HOUSTON BOWL! Reasoning: The Gator Bowl had Louisville last year and they would want a new school this year. West Virginia has a very explosive offense and Rutgers has a strong south Florida fan base. Louisville may get locked out of the big bowls this year.

I look for an undefeated Big East champ to get left out over a one loss Sec Champ or a one loss tOSU/Michigan. I believe there are going to be zero fans of the BCS in the Best East after this year.

The game between UL-WVU now is huge you could say whoever wins that game controls its destiny to go to the National Title game.

 

I would be almost shocked if they let either UL or WVU go to the national title game. That's not a knock on either team, but the BCS is screwed up.

That is a good scenario, but I think that the Big East doesn't have a chance of sending a team to the national title game. If Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, and possibly another team or two finishes with one loss - the Big East will get screwed. I don't like it and I don't think its right, but that's how it works with the (Bs)CS.

Or the winner of Ohio State/Mich. game vs. Auburn/ Florida (if either goes the rest of the way unbeaten). I do agree that the way it looks right now that Ohio State and Mich. are the two best teams in the country. WVU and UL may figure in but I just don't think either will be in the title game over the ones mentioned. JMO.

Or WVU is being setup for heartbreak.

 

If Florida wins out, including the SEC, they will more than likely play for the National Title. And it may be farfetched, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a rematch of the upcoming OSU/Mighigan game for the National Championship.

That is more likely a senario than anything else. Especially, if Michigan beats tOSU at the "Shoe".

 

1996 -- FSU beats Florida in the final regular season game for both. Florida wins SEC title game. Florida plays FSU for the national championship in the Sugar Bowl.

 

I know it's pre-BCS, but watch the BCS points come Monday and note where USC lands point wise. The point difference between the top 3 teams and the rest are huge. OSU has such a lead, that if they lose to UM, they could have enought points to hold on to the #1 slot.

 

Think about it.

Florida is the only SEC team with a realistic shot at the BCS title game, right or wrong, in my opinion.

 

Arkansas isn't going to get the AP or Coaches poll vote, and both LSU & Auburn are likely not to be in the SEC title game. If Florida can make it to the SEC Championship, win and only have one loss, then they have a shot. Other than that, it's a toss up between the Big East winner, if and only if that team is WVU or UofL, and the Big Ten runner-up, OSU or Michigan.

That would make it a lock, but I really don't think all of the above would have to happen.

One last thing...and I may get the beating a dead horse award for this, but...

 

D-I needs some type of playoff format, period. Too much uncertainty for their not to be at least a 3 game playoff format.
