Campbell County 34 Dixie Heights 3

Congratulations, Coach Woolf on win #1! The Camels defense is loaded with ballhawks. LBs Casey Rauch and Peyton Anderson had big games and made big plays. Reid Jolly is going to be a problem to cover for opposing DBs. He’s an instant mismatch for most defenders. Andrew Helton had a great debut and I’m looking forward to seeing him grow into his role. The Camels ran the ball effectively to move the sticks. I’m not sure what the deal was when CC went for it on 4th and 5 on their own 25 yard line in the first half that led to the Dixie FG.

Dixie’s QB has nice speed and should run more often to help get some yardage. I’m sure the Colonels will grow into a better team as the weeks go on.

The Highlands/CC game will be a must see next week. It’ll be a great indicator of where each team stands.

Sounds like the Camels weren't short of anything impressive tonight. I'll be looking very forward to seeing how the game goes between them and Highlands next week, as I'm sure others will too.

Dixie has a whole lot of work to do.

No doubt...could be a really long season.

What has caused such a steep decline in the Dixie Heights program?

What has caused such a steep decline in the Dixie Heights program?

Can't give a great answer, but they have lost some kids to CCH and possibly other schools. That's about all I have.

Campbell County is probably the best 6A team in NKY at this point. Congrats on the win.

What has caused such a steep decline in the Dixie Heights program?

1 - Scott's football program has vastly improved over the last 5 years. Simon Kenton football is vastly improved from 15 years ago. Kenton County Schools have open enrollment. If I'm a kid who plays football, I want to go to Scott or Simon Kenton LONG before I want to go to Dixie.

2 - Covington Catholic and Beechwood are both within a 5 mile drive, and are much more promising opportunities for a winning season and maybe a state championship.

3 - Middle school football and Covington Catholic's Colonel Youth Football essentially did in the Dixie Raiders and forced them to close up shop. The Raiders were the defacto feeder system for the Dixie Heights football program, and they're no more.

4 - Parents are more willing than they used to be to pay to send their kids to other schools for athletic purposes.

Congrats Mr Woolf on your first Varsity win!

Was it the Camels playing really well or the Colonels playing poorly? Or a combo of the two? Is the Camel QB elusive?

What has caused such a steep decline in the Dixie Heights program?

They're surrounded by football power with CovCath and Beechwood a short drive away. Simon Kenton and Scott, which used to be NKY doormats, are suddenly viable football options for Kenton County kids. Not sure what is in the mix at Dixie, but they don't appear to be doing themselves any favors.
