They should be very strong defensively with Wise/Kruse down low rotating as well as the football guys (stein, hurtt, ball). Word on the street is that McGraw is looking outstanding !!! Taking off football helped him not only heal but sounds like he is rejuvenated. They will need atleast 3 scorers so hopefully Simons will be the 3rd guy along with Simpson and McGraw. They are very strong and physical so the finesse teams will have trouble with the Birds.

IMO it will be the same challenge as always for HHS. How do they score enough to win?

With DJ missing almost the whole season, does this give another team a chance to step up and take it? Or is Holmes still the favorite w/ Rice, Henderson, and Hill in the starting lineup?

What do you think of Boone County?

Jack might not have had 5 assists in a month!

Once the ball went inside it usually wasn't going back out

Bing is still getting a paycheck for not kicking the ball back out unless he is shooting it from the outside which he can do now.

Austin Hill could end up a canidate for Mr. Basketball I have never spoken to a more level headed and dedicated kid with the talent he has. He didnt play football this year to work on his game and not risk injury. Alot of kids in the

9th region are good basketball players all the kids at HC,CCH,Holmes, but this kid is special I would be really shocked if he isnt the biggest signing for basketball to come out of the 9th region in a long time. Maybe Dickie Beal type and yes Dickie he is as good and if not better than you, but you are still my boy.

Austin will carry the load for Holmes this year and be the player they need to step up to make up for the loss of DJ. It kind of helps having Henderson and Rice in the lineup as well, but as long as Austin is in the lineup, Holmes will be able to stay atop without DJ.

So you're saying that Hill will go to a bigtime Division 1 school, like LSU?

Figured I'd post these since I don't think anyone else did, even if they are a few weeks old.....

Also a few questions for the Holmes supporters.....

Anyone know if Edmonson is still at Gallatin and/or is playing for them?

How is Greg Rice doing lately at practice?

Also, I was checking out the BGP 2005 Basketball preview, and Austin Hill was the #13 player in the region. Now he is undisputedly #1.

I watched St. Henry scrimmage Silver Grove Tuesday. Here are my comments:

Best Players on the Floor: Brandon Lenhof, SH and Corey Pelle, SG....Both can dominate at times and both should be playing college ball somewhere next season. Brandon might be the better shooter and possibly the most underrated player in the 9th Region. Corey is a feak. 6'1 or 6'2 and can dunk with ease. Also has a good outside shot and plays good defense.

Coaches: Tony Bagigalupo (not sure on spelling) is going to be a good one. He get a lot out of these kids and they played hard every quarter. I think its honest to say they won't ever win the region but they are going to always compete in division 1 nkac.

It looks as if Coach Faust has a change in philosophy this year. He is running and gunnin. The Crusaders were fun to watch. No slow down, low scoring. They have some shooters in Lenhof, Garnick (transfer from CCH), Griffin, Strahlendorf. 9 seniors means a lot of experience for the Crusaders and I look for coach faust to have one of his best coaching seasons with this group.

Good rundown of the players, but who won?? Any idea of the quarter by quarter scores, etc. Thanks.

They played 2 quarters then the JV played a 10 minute quarter then varsity played 2 more quarters. St. Henry won the 1st 3 quarters and lost the last one. 2nd and 4th quarters were the only ones that were close. I don't have exact scores but could get them.

Did you see Dickie play?

I think St Henry will surprise some people this year. If I remeber correctly they have some seniors and a very good player.

I know some football players were out, but maybe it's not a two or three team race.

Did you see Dickie play?

Good question....People are expecting a lot from Hill. He is a very good player, but Beal won the Regional MVP in college as he lead his team to the final 4. And he played for the College w/ the most all time wins. How do you improve on that?
