NEW 9th region predictions

Featured Replies

That one player dominates conversation about the whole region. Is the kid good? Yea. Is the 9th region so poor that all we have to talk about is him? Guess so.

He's been the most hyped kid in NKY for about as long as I can remember. So, I guess its natural he would dominate conversation.

This is what I mean by this. He is a good 9th region player. And at times he is the best. Last season he wasn't even the pg IMO. DJ has the speed but not all the skills. He isn't a shooter, like Krebs or Moss or Lemaster or Heisenbuttle. Tubby takes hard working good shooters for a walk on.

Also IMO, Duran is overhyped. He was came back to the pack. He was a stepp above everyone his sophmore year. Now his competition has caught up with him. And now with this terrible injury, which I am sorry to hear about, why would I think he is going to improve before seasons end. This will be a another tough year for Duran IMO.

Again this is MY OPINION. I wish Duran the best at UK playing football, but I don't believe he will ever suit up in a jersey with shorts at any D-1 school.

What about Highlands? Are they going to be bad? why has no one said anything about them?

Lots of ?? on HHS. Only 1 returning starter ( Simpson) and 1 with some minutes from last year ( Mcgraw ). Willie put all his eggs in 1 basket last year by only playing 7. 5 seniors and the two mentioned sophs. HHS will have two big guys ( srs. Wise and Kruse) but they have no varsity experience at all. IMO the Birds struggle early as they gain experience and shake off football rust, but play better later. The return of Simons (took last year off) will help. IMO the guys playing this year would have been much better off by getting some playing time last year.

I hope you are not saying that DJ is as good or better than Bradley, are you?

Because if you are, than that would be funny.

Where in my quote did you read that? I said he would help the team in practice. Bradley had 6 turnovers in the game and Duran even though people are taking shots at him now is still a great basketball player. Especially on defense and that would help the PG's on their team to have him to go up against in practice day after day. I said he is better than some of the kids that have actually walked on to UK's team and that is the truth. HAHAHA

This is sad:cry: Doesn't say much for 9th region Bball.

Go Colonels!!! Not much to do in Fort Thomas nowadays huh?

Of course you're kidding, right?

Care to elaborate? Duran is better than some of the kids that have tried out and made UK's team. He would be a great kid to have on the team just for his ability to help the team in practice. And after watching Bradley play point last night they could use some help.

Shouldn't Duran's focus be on trying to find some playing time on the football field?

This is what I just don't understand; Duran signed with UK to play football. He completed right around 30 percent of his passes this year and rushed for just more than four yards per carry. He was a non-factor on the defensive side of the ball. Hardly the kind of stats that have SEC coaches gleaming at him the day he walks onto campus. And people want to talk about him playing another sport in his spare time? I'd think working on football will be enough of a job for him. He'll have a lot to prove.

Nothing against the kid, but shouldn't the above be obvious to everyone? I'm not at all sold he's even the best football/basketball combo athlete to come from Holmes in the last five years. Englemon was on the field a whole lot today in the UM/OSU game. I heard it was a pretty big game.

They like him for his athleticism. I bring up basketball because I honestly dont see Duran really ever doing much at UK in football. And NO im not saying he is better than anybody on UK's basketball team but he is good enough to walk on. I've always thought Duran was a much better basketball player than he was a football player but D-1 bball scholarships arent as easy to get as football.

He signed a letter of intent with UK to play football, he has no walk on option with the basketball team. If he's on a football scholarship, he better focus on football, or lose his scholarship.

If he wanted to play basketball, maybe he should have held off signing in another sport, for D-II, possible D-III offers or go the NAIA or JUCO route.

So he did sign? I thought he only verballed giving him options. However with the injury.. I would sign as quick as possible if he hasnt.

They should be very strong defensively with Wise/Kruse down low rotating as well as the football guys (stein, hurtt, ball). Word on the street is that McGraw is looking outstanding !!! Taking off football helped him not only heal but sounds like he is rejuvenated. They will need atleast 3 scorers so hopefully Simons will be the 3rd guy along with Simpson and McGraw. They are very strong and physical so the finesse teams will have trouble with the Birds.

Of course you're kidding, right?

In regards to what specifically?

Its a verbal at this point. I'd guess that will change in February.
