Besides the 3 from Covington is there any other team that can at least compete?

Very true. Rice will be the X factor in most games this year. Going against teams with really big men, Rice can make up for 4 or 5 inches if he has to purely by his athleticism. If Holmes doesn't have a meltdown this year, Rice will be with Jacobs for POY, it's a toss up.

Legitimate point. But Avery can run the point just as well. IMO he's the best jr point guard in nky (aside from Simpson of HHS). Avery and Hill will split time at the point. Hill has the best ball handling skills on the team so you'll want your best player having the ball at all times but Braeon is alot like BJ. A little undesized but can rebound with the big boys. Braeon will drive and dish but his vision isn't as good as Duran's.

 

Losing DJ will definetly hurt but I don't see it being that big of a factor until they play a better team like CCH or HC.

Also remember that Holmes bench will be alot deeper this year than in years past which will allow them to press the whole game and wear teams down with their defense.

IMO when Rice was on the floor and in the right state of mind he was the best player in the region last year. If he can stay on the floor and out of the doghouse he has to be the frontrunner for POY, and is more than capable of making up for the temporary loss of DJ.

Vories was POY in his division. He , by the way is playing for Lindsey wilson college and has already earned playing time in their first game. They play UK on thursday night on fox sports.....look for him.

I hope HC doesn't think that they won't be in close games in the ALL A. I've heard that St. Henry will be pretty good. There have been times when the team that wins the regional tournament was not ranked in the top 3 in the beginning of the year.

Im pretty sure at the end of the year the 9th region player of the year was Austin Hill. And I believe Vories name was on that list below him.

You are wrong... Jeff Vories was player of the year he was in Rupp Arena on the floor at the state tourney when they honored all of the regional player of the year awards. I was there, I witnessed it so there you go.

 

On to Austin Hill who will win this year's POY award so maybe it was foreshadowing on your part. He will be on the floor in rupp this year.. he is the best player in the region. nuff said
