Gen Z Is Killing Cash

I got asked by a fan last night if they could use Venmo, made me think of this thread. Lost a two beer sale because I couldn't accept card or Venmo.

I might need to look into creating an account and figuring out how that works. We have a rule against credit cards. We don't have a rule against Venmo...yet.

I'm not sure how the powers that be would ever find out...Just curious, how many additional sales would you estimate you lose out on each night by being cash only?

Venmo is as easy as creating an account which consists of a username and password. You will then link a bank account or a debt card to your account. If I were sending you money I would look you up by your username and type how much I want to send. The amount will then show up in your Venmo account nearly instantaneously. You can either leave that balance in your Venmo account or transfer it to your bank account. Transfers will arrive in your bank account the next business day as long as you submit it before a certain time.

Yeah, I'm not sure they would either. But I'd imagine I'd want to be checking my phone to make sure the payment actually went through and they don't want us on the phones on the concourse or in the seats, but I could potentially get away with it.

Obviously it changes for the size crowd, but I'd say I probably lose about 3-4 sales (which could each be for anywhere between 1-4 beers) right now. But those are the ones that I know of. Plenty of people know that we can't accept cards, so it could be higher. And that's with crowds under 15,000.

I'd say I don't notice it as much on bigger crowds because you don't realize what you miss when its a good day lol.

Not having Miller Lite hurts more.

Wait they don’t have Miller at GABP anymore?!?

Not the beer vendors. AB put in a fat contract that expires after this season that prevents us from carrying Miller Lite. You can still find it in the stadium, but only a few pots on draft.

That's the one thing I hate about going to Cardinal games. No Miller Lite at all.

Seems like a lot of work to get the 5 bucks a guy owes me for a euchre game.

No honor at the euchre table? :lol2:

And I guess I can't assume anyone I deal into a game now has folding money. *sigh*

Love some good games of euchre. We played quite a bit in college. Always used Venmo to pay up.

You young whippersnappers. :lol2:

Love me some good euchre too; one of the best, easy and fast social (or cutthroat) card games.

Yeah, but it isn’t about the money as much as it is about waving the bill around like a victory flag before tucking it away in your wallet. I can play for hours, and if I walk away with a dollar, it is the most important dollar of the week.

It’s like a pro football player throwing his touchdown pass into the stands except he only has an imaginary football.

Scanned this thread & have one question for those who carry no cash--What do you use to tip? Not talking the obvious such as restaurants, cabs, Uber; but as one who travels a lot--Valets, Parking, Shuttle drivers, etc.?? Or do you just stiff those folks??

Yeah! What about that? What do you Venmo people do then?

Not a huge traveler but when I do travel I take cash. Normal daily life you would be lucky to find me with cash.
