May 12, 20188 yr I guess I just do things different than a lot of you. In my line of work not having cash in your pocket could mean missing the good deal. When I drive down the road and see a car for sale in someone's yard, I stop make a deal and pay for it. I sell things every day, have a lot of people that want to buy a truck I have for sale that was advertised as a (cash price)but don't have the cash on the them, say they need to run to the bank. Next guy pulls in 2 minute later with cash in hand. Who do you think just bought the truck? I understand not every one lives like I or some others do. Just couldn't imagine not having cash on me. This is a completely different scenario than what the majority of this thread has been. If I was in a line of work or even had a hobby where I was buying and selling stuff then yeah I would carry cash on me.
May 12, 20188 yr I took cash with me for tipping my room attendant on my trip to San Diego. But that is all the cash I took. Worked out splendidly.
May 12, 20188 yr Its how prostitutes take electronic payments, lol. Hmmm … I guess that makes sense. But I thought it was just like on Family Guy, where Quagmire just swipes his card down her crack.

Yep. And I can't imagine carrying enough cash around to buy a vehicle.
May 13, 20188 yr Yep. And I can't imagine carrying enough cash around to buy a vehicle. For what it's worth, it feels amazing to have that much cash in your pocket. I wish I could say it happens on the regular.
May 13, 20188 yr Very similar to PayPal, but quicker. I used to have an eBay problem. I don't do PayPal anymore. That cured the eBay problem.
May 13, 20188 yr Yep. And I can't imagine carrying enough cash around to buy a vehicle. It could be $100 car it might be a $2000 car. Never know .Tractor, riding mower, trailers, guns, tools, construction equipment just never know what your gonna see for sale that you just can't live without it. Actually if I buy it it's just to resell and make a profit. Guess there aren't that many of us around any more. And I regularly carry 2-4000 around with me. I also carry a weapon to deter anyone from thinking about taking it from me. Edited May 13, 20188 yr by #99 Spelling

I can remember two occasions in my entire life when I had over $1k in cash on me. 1st time was in college and in an impromptu trip to Atlantic City, I turned $100 into nearly $10k. The second time was a few years later when I cashed a $3k bonus check from work and brought the money to the jewelry store and bought my girlfriend (who is now my wife) an engagement ring. I do still remember bringing $500+ on vacations but that was also 15+ years ago. I haven’t always been cashless, and really it’s been a gradual process that’s taken place over the last 10 years or so.

I know at some l point I will have to get on board with the cashless thing. I like cash. Keeps certain People out of all of my business. No cash, all cards or electronic transactions means anyone can track everything you do. I don't like that at all.

After the jewelry store I went to the electronics store and bought a TV. Came home with about $500 left in my pocket.
May 24, 20188 yr Surprised none of you non cash peeps have not brought up that 2 of the top 5 credit card processing companies systems are down today affecting a large amount of businesses today. They cant process Debit cards or Credit cards, Gift cards.
