October 26, 200619 yr Also, has anyone considered the ramifications being stronger and in better condition could have on Randolph Morris? I think one important thing that could come from this is that it might greatly reduce his tendency to get in foul trouble. When guys get tired, they do stupid things and commit stupid fouls...and anyone who watched UK last year knows that Randolph committed his share of stupid fouls. I think better conditioning could eliminate a lot of those, which can only help. And it could help a great deal.

He was so out of shape physically last year and then emotionally and mentally just not knowing daily what was going to happen. From what I have read in the offseason, it seems that maybe Rondo and maybe even Sparks was bumping heads with Smith all the time.

October 26, 200619 yr Seriously, though, I thought Morris' conditioning being improved was last year's story line.
October 26, 200619 yr Author Seriously, though, I thought Morris' conditioning being improved was last year's story line. What else was he doing with all that free time...
October 26, 200619 yr Next paragraph in the article...... Easier said than done for a player who never met a shot he didn't like. Bradley took a Blue team-high 21 shots at Saturday's Blue and White scrimmage, although he put up 28 points with five steals and three rebounds. Last season he averaged 7.9 points, 1.7 boards and 17.7 minutes. From today's Herald Leader "When Ramel takes a shot, I have a lot of confidence he's going to make it," said Smith before adding, "When he takes a good shot. And he took three or four bad shots." But Smith noted that Bradley made more than a few of his shots, and his team won.
October 26, 200619 yr Well it definitely seems like we are starting to get into UK basketball season again, because we have people who try to find anyting to blame Tubby on, and always go back to how great Pitino was and how things were with him.... I am blaming the guy who is responsible for his teams conditioning. Morris's improved strenght and conditioning lead to 4, count em, 4 rebounds in the intersquad game this past weekend.
October 26, 200619 yr What else was he doing with all that free time... He did have some extra time on his hands last year, hopefully he keeps himself healthy and busy all season this year.
October 26, 200619 yr Author From Doyel's Hate Mail... From: Chris Brown You are absolutely right about the Kentucky program. It has slipped beyond belief right in front of our eyes. Tubby Smith should be escorted out of Kentucky along with the athletic director. Do all you can to continue to bring to light Tubby's failures at the best college job in America! I kind of thought my story was positive. From: Price Huston You hit the nail on the head. We fans at Kentucky are so discouraged with the basketball program. I have been a fan for over 60 years and only during the last Eddie Sutton year did I feel this badly. I really, really thought my story was positive. From: David Shearer HOLY SHIZZLE! You finally wrote a positive article about Kentucky basketball. I am shocked and appalled, and I am sure that you are barely able to stomach it yourself. I thought I wrote a positive story.
October 27, 200619 yr I'd say his problems were more poor footwork and basketball IQ... Thats some of it, but poor conditioning often causes for silly mistakes and for poor footwork. Also, he missed a whole lot of the offseason training. Hes going to be a better all-around player this year. How much so, none of us know at this point.

Morris's improved strenght and conditioning lead to 4, count em, 4 rebounds in the intersquad game this past weekend. I cant believe you are going to go by how Morris did in a intersquard game, to say how he will do this year. You really cant take what happened in the game and assume it will be the same during the season. Just like Crawford and Bradely probably wont be scoring 28 and 29 points a piece, etc, etc...The intersquard does not show how well, or how not so well a player will do this year, and you know that....

I agree but he did play and is 6'10". 4 rebounds should have hit him in the head. I'm basing it more on the fact that Morris has never been a big time rebounder. I just not convienced that a new strength and conditioning coach is the cure to all our ills.

I guess I'm just supprised how excited everyone is over a strength and conditioning coach. People are acting like this is some novel idea. I would venture to guess that just about every UK opponent this year will be in shape. My question remains why has UK been so poorly conditioned for the past 9 years? This is what it has come to. UK fans are pinning their hopes to a S&C coach.
