None of the kids are complaining about the new jerseys and helmets or anything else. You make it seem like they have to pay $300.00. They were asked to raise $300.00 through fund raisers and everything else or if they would rather just pay money they are more then welcome to do so which some parents wanted to do because they hate doing fundraisers. They could raise the money through lift a thons and other fundraisers that Scott does because they do a lot. Its easy to raise the money. your just trying to bash this team and people involved with them get all the facts straight before posting all of this because its ridiculas. Every kid on the team wants the new style helmets and they all wanted new jerseys and trust me I KNOW FOR A FACT they did.

Well if this is true and some kids got jobs and parents got jobs and then there is no time to raise money. The parents are stuck paying 300.00 or the kid doesnt play. (So that is what is going on I see clearly now.) I though so.

I am absolutely disgusted that they wont play SK. I hope SK beats them by 60 this year.

(Holy cross an easy win) I heard Scott had them beat. play calling cost them the game. As far as sk gose. Sk wins a few then scott wins a few it gose back and forth.

The game is usually close but Scott has only one win over SK in the past 7 seasons.

'05 (6-5) SK 18-7 (2-8 ) Scott

'04 (2-8) SK 14-7 (2-8) Scott

'03 (2-8) Scott 14-12 (1-9) SK

'02 (3-7) SK 13-10 (4-8) Scott

'01 (5-6) SK 44-0 (0-10) Scott

'00 (6-4) SK 13-7 (0-10) Scott

'99 (5-5) SK 14-7 (2-8) Scott

'03 Scott tipped a last second SK field goal and made it miss by maybe five yards. I wasn't happy.

Is it true that this same school system mandates that Dixie, Scott, and Simon Kenton all play each other home and away in basketball each year?

If that is true, then why would a SK/Scott football game not fall under the same edict? Both should have plenty of room on the schedule now that there are less district games.

Basketball is easier to compete in compared to football. That's why there is one champion in basketball and four in football.

So what if Scott doesn't want to schedule their rivals for a few years? It's in the programs best intrest to schedule winnable games. For a program with only one winning season and only one playoff win in it's history ( and that's one more playoff win than Sk has) an easier schedule is needed to get the students out. As far as 300$ goes Scott has always had a goal for the players to reach in fund raising (if you can't play top notch ball you can atleast look top notch). The only thing i disagree with is what the poster said they were going to use it on, and that is new helmets and jerseys. Didn't they just get those things? I would use it on updating the workout equipment or get what coach Reigler wanted a tunnel leading from the back of the locker room to the field. But I have no hurt feelings losing Simon Kenton for a few years. I'll be excited when the Eagles are .500 or better and Simon Kenton is in the cellar of 6a and the tables have turned.

Middle School comment is uncalled for and why play SK or HC anymore what are they getting out of it, nothing at all. Only reason SK and HC are upset at Scott is because they look at it like an easy win. They are no longer playing Llyod either but is anyone going to complain about that. they have been playing them since way back who knows how long. Why not go play some diffrent teams its only a two year comtract with these schools. They will end up playing SK again down the line but right now why not play others there is alot of teams in the state. I think its funny people talk about this yes it was a great rival i myself a huge eagle fan hate seeing it go as well but i wouldnt mind seeing them play some diffrent schools. I know the schedule for next year and really its not a bad one at all.

So they have to raise this money, but they're FAR MORE than likely greatly reducing their money made by game revenue by dropping both teams.... Sounds like "funny math" to me.

Scotts schedule just got harder, and they're dropping two teams with quality teams while picking up two teams that're usually more quality.... So with your reasoning they should drop two quality teams, which bring in more money than any teams they'll pick up, two find teams they may win against, but in the long haul(playoffs) mean nothing, just to boost morall. Sure makes sense to me.

Sounds like someone has a personal grudge...

Everyone has opinions on how this team can rebuild. Personally, I think one of the ways to make the step in the right direction is to play down for a while. Let the team get some wins, or at least be competitive for a while. It was nearly impossible to make any gains when you are in the cellar, with low turnout getting thumped weekly by BC, RYLE, DIXIE, CAMBELL CTY, SK... There are teams out there more on their level. They are still going to be in a monster division with Highlands, Covington Catholic, and Dixie breathing down their necks, so its not like they are dodging teams. Not re-signing up to take on SK, or BC, or Campbell County, or Ryle who are all in higher classes and not being able to compete against this level, is not a bad thing for the program. Hopefully, the team can get a few wins. Hopefully, they can get up to being a .500 team in the next few years. Hopefully, they will get more turnout from the student body. Hopefully, once we rebuild, we will be able to resume the series against SK...

Ok so they're still playing quality teams, perhaps two better than any on this years schedule, but should bump two RIVALRY teams off their schedule to play against a possible "W" team. Hmmm I wonder how pumped the kids will get for those game, "Hey come on guys, coach schedules this game so we'd have a chance at a WIN!!"....

That is what I was trying to point out earlier. Doing this has showed the kids that the coaches don't have faith in them and that they have to play horrible teams in order to win, and can't play their rival. It is just rediculous and a shame for the players who look forward to playing SK, just like any player looks forward to the chance to beat their rival in any sport.

I know, doesn't make much sense to me.

You two might be the smartest people on here. Couldn't agree more with you guys.

So I'll let nkysl do it all for me....:thumb:

Rivalry games mean alot. Picture this:

Highlands not playing Cov Cath

Beechwood not playing NCC

Dayton not playing Bellevue

Holmes not playing Holy Cross

While some outsiders would say "big deal". It is usually important for the kids.

I feel for the parents and guys on the team. My son hangs with a number of Scott players and they are all very talented young men. I wonder, is it the coaching or what is it? I always pull for Scott and admire those boys for coming out game after game and working hard...I also admire the parents for keeping their spirits up and cheering for their team. Keep the faith men and remember good things come to those who wait.....Go Eagles!
