Scott and Simon Kenton's last time to play each other.

Featured Replies

This just started this year. besides they play them as freshmen. one play and one at a time. so they are lock in. And cant go to another school unless they move or sit out a year. This is a fact.

No freshman has played one play or has even dressed varsity for Scott this year.

I am disappointed that Scott is not playing SK for the next two years. I love the rivalry between the two schools. I do believe that for Scott to build a program they need to step back for a little while and schedule teams more on their own level. The new division that they are in has Highlands, Covington Catholic, and Dixie. I don't see them being competitive with those teams anytime soon. Going out and looking for 6A schools (SK has 500 more students than Scott) to get beat by isn't a way to build a program. It's just adding more misery to the situation. Scott needs a chance to compete with other schools on their level and work their way up. I know it will hurt the two teams gate revenues for the next couple of years, but I fully anticipate the rivalry to resume in a couple of years.

I did not hear that if that is true. Then who else did they get.

I cannot comment on the schedule for next year, but I can tell you that Scott will play Cov Cath, Highlands, Dixie, and Holmes, their divisional opponents. The other six games will be released in the spring. I can tell you that Holy Cross is not on the schedule.

In a sense it is sad that the player really is just being used in this situation to prevent them from going somewhere else and it is sad that coaches need to do this to keep kids in the program. Also, fbpride thanks for clearing up the whole graduation thing. That is a rediculous amount of money and do you know how the bill got to be that high?

Yes, They said that the coaches wanted new helments and jerseys/ pants the players didnt. They were happy with what they had in fact players took a vote and it was to keep what they had. they didnt like what they were getting.

If Scott is going to be playing teams at their own level. right? Then what teams are they. there are none. you cant play middle school kids. It has to be a high school. sorry, but It just a fact.

None of the kids are complaining about the new jerseys and helmets or anything else. You make it seem like they have to pay $300.00. They were asked to raise $300.00 through fund raisers and everything else or if they would rather just pay money they are more then welcome to do so which some parents wanted to do because they hate doing fundraisers. They could raise the money through lift a thons and other fundraisers that Scott does because they do a lot. Its easy to raise the money. your just trying to bash this team and people involved with them get all the facts straight before posting all of this because its ridiculas. Every kid on the team wants the new style helmets and they all wanted new jerseys and trust me I KNOW FOR A FACT they did.

Didn't you already say this somewhere?

Yes. This same argument was brought up elsewhere, too.

Middle School comment is uncalled for and why play SK or HC anymore what are they getting out of it, nothing at all. Only reason SK and HC are upset at Scott is because they look at it like an easy win. They are no longer playing Llyod either but is anyone going to complain about that. they have been playing them since way back who knows how long. Why not go play some diffrent teams its only a two year comtract with these schools. They will end up playing SK again down the line but right now why not play others there is alot of teams in the state. I think its funny people talk about this yes it was a great rival i myself a huge eagle fan hate seeing it go as well but i wouldnt mind seeing them play some diffrent schools. I know the schedule for next year and really its not a bad one at all.

Sounds like someone has a personal grudge...

Everyone has opinions on how this team can rebuild. Personally, I think one of the ways to make the step in the right direction is to play down for a while. Let the team get some wins, or at least be competitive for a while. It was nearly impossible to make any gains when you are in the cellar, with low turnout getting thumped weekly by BC, RYLE, DIXIE, CAMBELL CTY, SK... There are teams out there more on their level. They are still going to be in a monster division with Highlands, Covington Catholic, and Dixie breathing down their necks, so its not like they are dodging teams. Not re-signing up to take on SK, or BC, or Campbell County, or Ryle who are all in higher classes and not being able to compete against this level, is not a bad thing for the program. Hopefully, the team can get a few wins. Hopefully, they can get up to being a .500 team in the next few years. Hopefully, they will get more turnout from the student body. Hopefully, once we rebuild, we will be able to resume the series against SK...

Is it true that this same school system mandates that Dixie, Scott, and Simon Kenton all play each other home and away in basketball each year?

If that is true, then why would a SK/Scott football game not fall under the same edict? Both should have plenty of room on the schedule now that there are less district games.

I don't know. I originally thought the same thing and brought up this question, but I guess it is apparently not so...

You all make it sound like playing SK is like going up against a premier program. SK has only been successful for the last 2 years which Scott gave them a good game last year and hopefully will do the same this year. It isn't about playing down when it comes to your biggest rival. I understand wanting to get more W's but you still should play your rival. It isn't fair to the kids that are going to be juniors and seniors next year to scrap playing SK for 2 years. Even if you are having a horrible season, you always get up for this one game. Honestly, this is the one game that both sides want to win the most, and for Scott's coaches to simply not want to play SK is sending the kids a bad message about the program and the coaches.
