Blue-White scrimmage

Featured Replies

Jared Carter went scoreless in an intra squad scrimmage. Did anyone attend the game? I thought he was supposed to be the most improved player on the team.

Did Kentucky win?

Carter is tall and overrated.

Joe Crawford led all scorers with 29 points and Randolph Morris added 24 for the White. Bobby Perry and Ramel Bradley each had 28 points for the Blue as they defeated the White 95-87. Bradley also added 5 steals, 3 rebounds, and was 10-10 from the line.

Freshman Jodie Meeks was impressive in his Wildcat debut, scoring 15 points to complement four assists, while fellow rookie Derrick Jasper had 13 points with five assists and two steals.

Blue was 17-17 from the line and white was 9-12.

Jodie Meeks is my favorite player, replacing Rajon Rondo.

U.K. Wildcat basketball can't get here soon enough! I look for this team to exceed everyones expectations.

Definitley has the potential to be a great player for the Cats. :thumb:

A friend of mine, whose opinion I trust said that Derrick Jasper looked really good.

Crawford attacked the rim, which is what he did coming out of high school. Over the last couple of years he has just hung on the perimeter.

Decent day overall...and heard that Carter still is not that comfortable with back to the basket.

I went to the Blue/White game yesterday, and let me first say I was impressed. I have attend several of these in my lifetime, and while the overall depth of talent is not as good as some years, we have 6-7 kids that can deal. I came away from the game with a very positive outlook on the year. This team will be capable of winning it all. It will take some good fortune, and the basketball Gods will need to be with us, but the talent is there. Perry, Crawford and Morris were outstanding. Bradley played well and came through for his team in the clutch, but I was not always confortable with some of his decisions--- This leads me to my point. Bradley is a scorer. He has a knack for creating for himself. I just don't know with our offensive weapons that he will be an effective player at getting everyone involved. In the second half, Jasper played the point and played it well. He has outstanding handle and vision. He looks to get everyone else involved first. He can back down smaller guards drawing the "D" and opens up the perimeter for our shooters. The other huge benefit is he has the ability to rotate on D and guard a 3. In essence, with Jasper at the point, we are a 3 guard team offensively, but match up much better on D. I felt the last couple of years with Rondo, Sparks and Crawford, we were just too darn small. Bradley can be a terror on the ball. Crawford matches up well at the 2. Jasper can run the point and rotate down and match up with most 3's on D. Perry is tough and can play the four leaving Morris at the 5. --- I realize that this analysis comes from one scrimmage, but based on what I saw today, that would be our best line-up. What does everyone else think?

If the depth isn't good, how can you read how well the top 6 or 7 players played???

I think there are a few things you can take from this game.

Communication between the players. From what I understand, this team is really talking on the floor and that is something OTS has said has been a huge problem, particularly on the defensive end.

Moving the ball...were they standing around on offense...were the passing the ball and distributing the ball...attacking the basket...and so forth.

How comfortable did the young kids look?

Things like that is what I would look to take from these.

I don't take too much out of these other than little things. Far too often kids have had big scoring nights and it really doesn't amount to much.

^ I am with you. The standing around and pitiful defensive communication killed UK last season (along with about 900 other things, but still...).

Carter only shot 2 shots. Thats incredible that he didnt get more looks. Does anyone know how many turnovers he had?

Great to see that Crawford is attacking the rim! It looks like all and all a pretty good day for the team.

Im glad to see my Johson Center buddy Eric Allen get out there and play well! Hes a very talented player. I believe he is a more talented offensive player than Ravi Moss. At the same time I think Moss was a better defender and a tougher player with a huge heart.

Eric Allen is no Ravi Moss, and I haven't even seen him play.

Sounds like Carter still struggling with his back to the basket. Trouble feeling double teams, knowing when to look to score or pass out.

This team will be capable of winning it all.

I was waiting for it...
