Scott County 114 Madison Southern 36 (11th Region Quarter-Finals)

No, & I'm sure this wont be a popular opinion with some, but unfortunately this is what happens when you have super weak Districts in a Region, a team that really has no business being there ends up on the wrong end of the buzzsaw by drawing a team like Scott Co. in the first round, meanwhile teams like Henry Clay & Lexington Catholic out of the 42nd & 43rd who would be much better competition in a Region didn't make it out of much tougher districts.

Did anyone really expect any less than this from a Billy Hicks led team during a tournament run?

I am in agreement my friend!

So Scott County's JV put up 24 points against Mad South varsity in one half? Don't blame them. Young kids wanting to play will take every shot they get a chance at and who can blame them for that? They gotta learn someway.

I had no problem with them winning by a large margin- the point was they continued to press when the score was 42 to 4.

End of story

First half of a regional tournament game against a 5A school.

Scott County is just a whole lot better than Madison Southern this year. Scott is six wins away from a state championship - and their next three games are Lafayette, Madison Central/LCA, and Trinity/Ballard, some of the best teams in the state of Kentucky. They hadn't played since last Friday. They needed to play and needed to execute their game plan. Southern was just an unfortunate victim.

I would say what goes around generally comes back around in sports, but not with Scott Co. They're always a beast!

Scott County has never been about sportsmanship.

The bench outscored MS by 18 points in the second half, so what is one suppose to do.

If jv played whole 2nd half I have zero problem with this.

This was in reference to the Campbell County girls game

Very unsportsmanlike to beat a team like that.

Its the regional tournament for pete's sake, show up and play.

The JV score 34 in second half with the running clock. The excitement the young kids showed during the whole half was awesome. That’s the most they have gotten to play in a varsity game. They had fun. Nice seeing that they as well can shoot the three ball well.

So very true. 10th Region has same problem. Hopefully it is fixed soon.

Districts should be a thing of the past. Agreed.

Although, as another poster mentioned.. Scott Co continued to press the entire 1st half and score as quickly as possible... that's running up the score and the JV playing the 2nd half has nothing to do with it.

The 2nd half isn't the problem but reality is the Varsity continued to trap all over the court up 50 and push the tempo as fast as possible.

So for the record how long are they allowed to actually try? This is varsity basketball in the postseason they are supposed to get better each day to try and win a state title should they just tank the game completely because the other team isn't any good? They played 1 half of starters I don't know how they are supposed to play less than that? I mean what is the cutoff when they are up 20 they just have to hold the ball the rest of the way? To me that would be even more embarrassing than just playing the game.
