Especially when they might feel like it will be a less than competitive game....or maybe they didnt want to hear the "Lets Play Football Chant?" :sssh:

HHS always has the "Let's play baseball" chant.

The year that Ben Guidugli and Highlands came over, the game was a sell-out (posters on the windows and all), and Highlands had a full section of students. The cheering section banter that night, along with the game, was awesome!!

When the boy was playing 8 years ago, there was a decent size contingent of Highlands students that would come to the Cov Cath gym it seems for the games. I also thought there was one year when they showed up with a state championship trophy if I recall correctly. I am old but I thought that was Highlands and was not all that long ago. Maybe someone else remembers.

Well the '05-'10 time period is admittedly a pretty thin stretch for my attending Cov Cath basketball games, so I'll definitely defer to you gents as far as what the attendance was like at that point.

I also thought there was one year when they showed up with a state championship trophy if I recall correctly.

I neither remember this nor do I believe it.

They rolled the canon over to Park Hills and put it in a backyard on Old State Road for a football game. I don't see it being that much of a stretch to imagine them showing up with a state championship trophy.

Placing the cannon in a back yard in Park Hills was the work of a creative group of parents.

Allowing kids to take a state championship trophy to Park Hills would require the consent of Brian Robinson and/or Dale. Neither of which I can see doing that.

Not to mention, the cannon was privately owned - not property of HHS.

I’ve never heard this; did it get fired that night?

1989, Saturday afternoon game in Park Hills. A 19-0 Birds win.

I recall this happening as well.

This did happen and if I remember right they forgot to take it home with them.

It happened.

Great game, great rivalry.

But why bring the state trophy? Didn't anyone think this through?
