December 10, 20178 yr Author Anyone that watched Lamar and didn't think he was a guy who was dangerous the entire game wasn't watching with clear eyes. I'm fine with Mayfield winning but don't lose credibility by diminishing LJ to "stat stuffer." That's what he is. He's arguably the greatest stat stuffer in college football history.
December 10, 20178 yr Author Which player will make the better NFL quarterback? I’m not knowledgeable enough about football to know that answer, so just asking. It's Baker hands down.
December 10, 20178 yr Author What you said BBJ, Mayfield ain't taking one to the house from 70 yards out. Yeah he's just going to save himself the effort and hit a completetion downfield. He had one of the most efficient seasons throwing the ball in NCAA history and average 16 yards per completion.
December 10, 20178 yr Author I feel like when Lamar has the ball, he can score from anywhere with either the run or the pass. I’ve never felt that way about any other player before him. Michael Vick, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel...
December 10, 20178 yr Which player will make the better NFL quarterback? I’m not knowledgeable enough about football to know that answer, so just asking. Neither one....both irrelevant in 2 years
December 10, 20178 yr I don't disagree with Mayfield winning, even though he's a punk. But Lamar finishing 3rd is ridiculous.
December 10, 20178 yr Author Neither one....both irrelevant in 2 years I disagree. I think both will actually have decent careers in the NFL as QBs. Mayfield landing in the right spot will be very successful and Lamar is too electric to be irrlevant. I mean for Gods sake Tyrod Taylor is a starting QB in the NFL and he's basically a poor mans Lamar Jackson. Mayfield has attributes about him that transcend very well to the NFL game.
December 10, 20178 yr It's Baker hands down. You dont know how much I want him on my Jags but no way he last til 32.
December 10, 20178 yr Author You dont know how much I want him on my Jags but no way he last til 32. :lol2: We all know Eli Manning is going to be quarterbacking the Jags next year. Haha But I agree with you. I would love to have him on the Bengals.
December 10, 20178 yr Yeah he's just going to save himself the effort and hit a completetion downfield. He had one of the most efficient seasons throwing the ball in NCAA history and average 16 yards per completion. I wasn't speaking on his passing ability. I was talking about his ability to take the ball 70 yards on his own. I think the kid has had a great season and being efficient is fine but Jackson has accounted for over 400 yards of offense running and passing per game. Keep the 16 yards per catch, put him on Louisville's team in the ACC and he'll end up right where Louisville is with NO consideration for the award. Now Place Jackson and his 400+ yards with the Sooners in the big 12. You tell me. JMO. By the way 16 yards per catch, isn't that a stat? Just asking.
December 10, 20178 yr Congrats to Baker Mayfield – also to Bryce Love. And of course, to the talented, dynamic, and humble Lamar Jackson! Super fun watching #8 being part of this, the past 2 years. (It was also cool watching him being summoned on stage by his fellow Heisman brethren after the announcement.)
December 10, 20178 yr I feel like when Lamar has the ball, he can score from anywhere with either the run or the pass. I’ve never felt that way about any other player before him. Kind of felt that way about Vince Young, particularly in the National Title Game.

I threw the stat out to avoid the whole Big 12 QB argument we hear all the time about how it's just a bunch of short passes and that's why the efficiency numbers are where they are. That's usually the argument against Big 12 QBs. You can't make that argument against Baker. It comes down to essentially one thing for me, Lamar isn't going into Columbus or Stillwater and doing what Baker did.
December 10, 20178 yr Mayfield deserved it. The Sooners 96.9 offensive efficiency rating and the fact they have led the FBS in points per game, offensive touchdowns, yards per game and yards per play the past three seasons since Mayfield took over at QB is reason enough. Not bad for a walk-on.
