I mean it sure seemed like a shot to me... I don't quite understand your argument that Buckeye fans, outside of essentially me, are praising Mayfield. Most have the same view that everyone else on here seems to think of the guy which is he's great but he's a punk and they can't stand him for obvious reasons. I'm choosing to look past what he did in Columbus and appreciate him for who he is; the best college football player in the country. It's crap to say I'm only doing it to make OSU look better.

I never said that Mayfield wasn't a good QB. Never said he was undeserving, you are the one that put the "Stat Stuffer" label on Jackson. You talk like his numbers are garbage and that is not the case. The kid won the award last year and this year his numbers are better and he was voted third? If (and this is a big if) Louisville had beaten Clemson and were in the top 4, who do you think would have won? But, that is not the case and Mayfield won. That does not diminish the season that Jackson had nor does it make his stats any less impressive. And no, I am not a Louisville fan, I just believe the kid was better than third. Hats off to Mayfield, great accomplishment. Just think that if Jackson played on a team comparable to OU the numbers world have been off the charts. But that's just my opinion.

If UL beat Clemson and was in playoff contention, Lamar probably would have won. But they didn't win and Lamar didn't play well. Last year UL lost to Clemson but Lamar had a hell of a game. This year he didn't. Baker has starred in the big games this year. Baker had Heisman moments, Lamar didn't.

Why is everyone so worked up over the fact that Lamar finished third? It's not like it was close between Baker and Love either. In the end 2nd place is simply first place loser.

Curious on why you think neither? We have seen similar qbs of Mayfields size and even attitude do well in Brees, Wilson and Favre.

2 of those guys are established starters in the league and you're using them to prove your point that Baker won't be good in the NFL? Ok.

I didn't realize Tyrod was a top qb coming out of college. Mariotta has been up and down, but about to have a team in the playoffs.

 

Manziel was always a partier. Mayfield worked himself on to two D1 schools as a walk on. So work ethic and confidence is there. Manziel made a lot of plays by running around and throwing jump balls up to Evans. Mayfield is ten times a much more developed passer than Manziel.

I did not say YOU thought that. You asked why I felt it was an insult and I told you what I thought. Jackson finished third. I believe that is why most are upset and it should have been closer. But it wasn't and he didn't finish second. It's Monday. I have to hit the trail and go to work. If that's the case for you also, I hope you have a good day.

Fair enough. I agree to disagree. Mayfield work ethic seems to be ten times as high as Johnny Manziels ever was. Plus a more developed passer. That's why I don't see him as Johnny M. Plus he is older and performed at this high level for 3 years not just 2.

Baker Mayfield was the clear choice for the Heisman. Lamar Jackson is clearly the best college football player in the country. Both of those statements can be true and factual at the same time.
