Pecan Pie (especially of made with bourbon soaked pecans) is a heavenly concoction not to be lumped into the common pie category.

Thumbs way up, but it has to be a good one. Mass-produced department/grocery store pies aren't.

The equation is correct concerning Pecan Pie as well. Pecan's are nuts, not fruit. Therefore they should not be made into pie either. Neither should sweet potatoes.

Never would have thought it of you. I agree there are some nasty ones, but a good homemade one like my granny used to make is hard to beat. I bet Gold Sunrise makes a dandy too.

I like it solo, but I have also been known to coat my pumpkin pie with cool whip.

I was introduced to pumpkin pie as a kid probably like most on Thanksgiving, and it was the yearly tradition for my Dad to put on his big white bakers apron, and an old pair of blue jeans, and bake them while Mom was doing all the other cooking.

 

While I do like Frisch's pumpkin pie of any store bought varieties, nothing comes anywhere near close to my Dad's pumpkin pies. They were the greatest, and I know now just how much I took them for granted not knowing just how hard it would be to come across anything like them in my adult years.

 

Each slice would also come with a token pecan, and on top of it we'd put a big scoop of his homemade whipped cream.

 

Simply the best.

I like a good pumpkin pie. Usually Frisch's is better than most. Like I mentioned in another pumpkin pie thread, I picked up a Pumpkin Supreme from Bob Evans restaurant and it was very good.
