Godot Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I am seriously considering giving up the NFL and everything that goes with it. I am not happy with the way the spoiled brats have disrespected our Country and our Veterans. I am not happy with the NFL not enforcing their own rule that states that all players stand for the National Anthem I have not watched a game since week two or three when the disrespect became wide spread. And therefore I have not enjoyed this Fantasy Football season. The NFL agreeing to pay 90 million dollars for social justice causes and taking the money from the league’s planned financial support for breast cancer and military charities has pushed me over the edge today. I have been playing Fantasy Football for 31 years, and each of those years I have commissioned at least one league, but this may be my last year. If I don't play Fantasy Football any more, this is the reason.
Jumper_Dad Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I'd really hate to lose you as our Commish, you are as good as any I've ever seen. But I'll respect any decision you make...as for me I'd love to have you back.
Irish Cat Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I quit playing about 4 years ago, for different reasons. It had simply got to the point that it took too much time. I don't regret it at all. I got my Sunday's back. I hardly ever watch NFL anymore. I still love college football, but my interest in the NFL was mainly for gambling purposes.

I quit watching as well but still do fantasy football. I haven't even watched a 1/2 game this year. Last year I only watched during the playoffs. I still do fantasy football for the camaraderie.

If I don't play Fantasy Football any more, this is the reason. I love fantasy, and I love football. I can't envision every not watching it. And while I get why people are upset with the National Anthem protests, there's also a ton of players doing a bunch of not just good, but great things for their community. JJ Watt raising a ton of money, Deshaun Watson donating his first game check, Chris Long donating his entire salary, and many, many more. I don't have to like, endorse or even care about those that don't stand for the Anthem. There are so many more doing so much good. I'll stick with the NFL, and focus on the good that's going on.

rjs4470 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Another example of why the NFL isn’t all bad. Again, you can focus on the 20 or so players that kneel every week, or the several hundred that don’t and do a lot of good. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water..... NFL.com - Official Site of the National Football League Too often, we focus on the small groups that bother us, rather than celebrating what’s good in the world.
halfback20 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I haven't watched nearly as much football as I used to. I still enjoy fantasy football and seem to have been doing okay this year, even though I don't watch many games.
Bengal Maniac Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I will continue to watch and play. A small percentage of any company or group does not represent the group as a whole in my mind. I try and not let what others do control what I do or enjoy. I get it, though. that there are those that are angry, upset or whatever. We all respond differently, which I think is what freedom is about.
TheDeuce Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Still pretending the kneeling is about the military? Oh...
98NCCalum Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Still pretending the kneeling is about the military? Oh... The best lesson I've learned in life is to not tell people how they should react to any certain situation. If folks take offense to them kneeling as a sign of disrespect to our country and therefore on the military or those who defend the country, that's their right. Right, wrong or indifferent.
75center Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I started playing FF in 1981 and gave it up a couple years ago. Had become too impersonal with everything online. I have given up watching the NFL regularly but will catch parts of game now and again. It's partly the absence of FF and partly the politicizing of the game.
TheDeuce Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 The best lesson I've learned in life is to not tell people how they should react to any certain situation. Kinda like telling people they shouldn’t kneel to protest social injustices? I agree.
TheDeuce Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 If people would boycott racists like they say they are boycotting the NFL there would be no need to kneel.
98NCCalum Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Kinda like telling people they shouldn’t kneel to protest social injustices? I agree. They can do whatever they want, but they have to respect people's reaction to doing so. And if that means no longer buying their product then that's a risk they are taking. Whether they want to admit it or not they are all salesman for the NFL and if they're not selling the product the way that the customers want it then they have to appreciate the fact that people may react in this manner, choosing to not purchase said product.
