CAL better think twice about disrespecting MF's mid-field logo. Such actions will be taken very personally. Here's the thing, the MF players paint that bird themselves. Painting the Cardinal is part of the tradition around here. It would be wise to find other ways to tease and taunt and not poke that particular bear.

They won't do a thing...it's better not to rile up the end zone bunch and this would be a big no no.

I agree and I doubt very much if anything happens on the Cardinal.

I'm ampped for this game. I just hope coach joe and the staff have a great defensive game plan for Wright and them boys. One thing I've noticed about Mayfield these past 4 or 5 games is the discipline level has been alot better. Given they are pretty young but the first half of the season the penalties worried me going forward. It seemed like teams stayed in games that had blowout written all over it because of Mayfield penalties. It's been a treat to watch their development this year.

Mayfield has only lost once at home since 2009...and that was an overtime loss to 6A McCracken County in 2015.

 

I'm not sure I would be dripping with confidence going into that mess. Just saying.

CAL probably hasn't played in the hostile environment that awaits them.

Only difference is that fans are right on top of you at WM and the end zone fans are extremely close. Big crowd and it can get crazy. This should be a tight and hard hitting contest.

I know next to nothing about CAL, except I keep hearing about the Wright kid. I have said all along, I don't think MF runs the ball well enough, or tackles well enough to win at this stage. MF ran the ball really well last week, so if they can keep that up, their odds of winning obviously go up. They still missed LOTS of tackles last week, and the first defender to the ball rarely brings down the ball carrier (IMO). I will also note that MF's kicker has looked particularly good lately, and they are playing at home, so those are positives. I still see something like 35-28 CAL. I think MF will score, I just don't know how their D will hold up.

Mayfield tackling has always been taught like this. Every man to the ball. If that happens then I don't know a RB anywhere that can break loose from all 11 men. Now if it is 1 on 1 then obviously the better athlete wins. If Mayfield swarms to ball as they suppose to then very few yards rushing for the opponent.
