NCC Player Walks On At UK

Featured Replies

I was told yesterday at Keenland that former NCC star, Mark Krebs, recieved word from Tubby Smith that he made the squad as a walk-on. Mark played last season at Thomas More and had been working out with UK all summer. This comes from a pretty reliable source and I have all reasons to belive.

Congrats to Markie!! And Good Luck.

What position does he play?

Shooter

What position does he play?

The one that Adam Williams vacated.

...and the great expectations.

Congrats if true, I'm sure it will be well worth it for Krebs even if he only plays a handful of minutes. This is something every KY boy dreams of. I never saw Krebs play, I remember Mak talked highly of him, how did he do for the Saints last season?

Did pretty well before he left the team. He had 26 points or something like that in his debut for the saints.

If it is true, congrats to Mark. I have played with him and against him many times. He has a great shot to go along with many solid fundamentals. Good luck to him.

This decision by Tubby really baffles me. Krebs was a good high school player, but he does not have the skills or size to play D-1 basketball. That's why he ended up at Thomas More in the first place.

What's it hurt? As a junior / senior in high school, I would have never imagined Krebs playing D1 basketball, even as a walk on; however, he's a little bigger than 6'4'' probably, and can shoot lights out. His shot is awkward, but accurate.

Krebs may not ever see the floor, but at least we know he'll work hard, bust his butt and can put the ball in the hole. Those are 3 things that have been missing in Lexington for way too long...

I thought that was St Patrick's role??? :p

1. He has plenty of size for his role - shooter. I bet he's 20 pounds stronger than he was in high school.

2. It costs UK zero to have him on the team so what's the harm? If he turns out to be a strong shooter and can fill a small role, its all a bonus. If he doesn't get in for his career, UK loses absolutely nothing.

Please don't tell me about his dribbling , his defense, or his ballhandling. None of those got him on the team.

It will be interesting to see if he indeed made it.

The team photo has already been taken and Im sure the Media Guide is at the printers.
