I think they can keep it close for a half and then just see what happens. I would pick Catholic to win, but I'll be cheering for Garrard.

Just got in from Flemingsburg. Great win for the Golden Lions. Can't say enough about how well the defense played. Other than a 4+ minute stretch at the end of the third quarter they held Fleming's offense pretty well in check. Garrard stopped Fleming on downs at the three yard line with around three minutes left, couldn't move the ball and had to punt, then picked off a Fleming pass with just over a minute left.

 

Offensively, Garrard was very effective early, didn't move it as well in the middle of the game, then came up with a huge drive in the fourth quarter (aided by a fake punt) that was capped off with a touchdown pass. I don't know that Garrard had a ton of yards but they did a good job of keeping Fleming's offense off the field.

 

Somewhat odd stat after checking when I got home, but Garrard has won five of their last seven first round playoff games on the road. Probably not a ton of schools can make that claim - for what its worth!

I think they can compete; we'll have to wait and see about winning. Their defensive backfield played well tonight but Catholic probably has more athletes than Fleming. Garrard's biggest problem with LexCath in the last several games has been the inability to complete early drives, which then leads to Catholic building a multiple score advantage.

Nice win Lions! I'm sure they're happy they are playing Catholic, and not Boyle in the 2nd Rd. I give them a realistic chance to meet Boyle in the Regional Finals.

OUTSTANDING!!! Came in and took care of business on the road! Gotta be able to secure home field advantage and win with that gift! Tough loss for the Panthers. Expectations were really high for that program!
