October 30, 20178 yr While the selection committee got it largely right, one can’t help but wonder if production/distribution restrictions prevented entries such as Kirkland Light and Beer:30 from making runs at the crown. Are there any other notable omissions, perhaps deserving of a play-in round?

October 30, 20178 yr I couldn't read the fine print, so I'll ask. These are the ones I grew up on, in a manner of speaking. National Bohemian (Natty Boh) Carling Black Label Schmidt's of Philadelphia
October 30, 20178 yr Author Did Falls City make the cut? Falls City probably wouldn’t make the cut for the CBI. That’s Cheap Beer Invitational for the acronym-challenged.
October 30, 20178 yr Falls City probably wouldn’t make the cut for the CBI. That’s Cheap Beer Invitational for the acronym-challenged. These bottles were my Great Granpa's favorite...at least that's all I ever remember seeing at his farm.
October 30, 20178 yr Did Falls City make the cut? Falls City isn't cheap any more. I don't think I've ever seen it for less than $8.99 for a six pack, and it's usually more like $9.99. Plus they're definitely trying to make it a craft brew label these days. I considered Sterling, but it isn't distributed too far outside of the Evansville/Owensboro/Louisville/Bowling Green area.

National Bohemian (Natty Boh) Carling Black Label Schmidt's of Philadelphia Thought about National Bohemian and Carling, but honestly, I can't think of a time that I've even seen either for sale since I was of legal drinking age. They may still be out there, and if so, those may be some legit snubs. Totally forgot Schmidt's was even a thing. I left out Blatz too. In my mind, that wins the award for the worst beer label name out there.

Are there any other notable omissions, perhaps deserving of a play-in round? I intentionally left out the store brand beers...Kirk's Light (Costco), Big Flatts (Walgreens), and then Walmart and Trader Joe's have faux craft beers. Geneessee Cream Ale, Little King's Cream Ale, Lone Star, and Rockdale are all cheapies that will have to fight it out in the NIT with the malt liquors and cervezas. Are they sill making Beer:30?

October 30, 20178 yr Pretty sure you can find a Natty Boh easier than water in Baltimore. Natty Boh and hard crabs. The stuff of which my formative years were made.

National Bohemian (Natty Boh) Carling Black Label Schmidt's of Philadelphia Natty Boh.....nothing like spending a summer in Bethany Beach, DE, and heading to Ocean City, MD with $6 and coming back with 3 sixes of Natty Boh. Schmidt's was our beer of last resort while in college.
October 31, 20178 yr Pretty sure you can find a Natty Boh easier than water in Baltimore. Especially right outside Camden Yards.
October 31, 20178 yr My midwestern people are convinced that not only would Red, White and Blue win the NIT, but be a sneaky upstart to get into the Sweet 16 as a play-in game winner.
