Why do you say that? I know Kiffin spurned them before, but I'd for sure take him over a guy like Petrino.

There’s no good way to leave. But the way Lane left the first time, left a very bad taste in everyone’s mouth. He will get another high major job, but he’s rebuilding his image from a maturity standpoint right now. Probably be another year at FAU

I'm not sure the taste is a bad as you think. I don't think Kiffin will be near the top of UT's list, but if their top 2-3 candidates turn the job down, Kiffin is in that next group to get called IMO.

No Mark Stoops buzz anywhere across the grid?

Still has holes in his coaching strategy for that IMO. His clock management is horrendous, and hasn't done quite enough to prove that he's ready for a job bigger or better than UK. Let's face it UK is honestly the perfect job for him, SEC school but not expected to win National Championships, as long as he wins 7 games a year he's fine.

  • 3 weeks later...

Interesting take this morning from Clay Travis on his current predictions for the SEC jobs that are open (and he believes will come open)...

Florida - Chip Kelly

Tennessee - Jon Gruden

Arkansas - Gus Mahlzan (assuming Bama beats Auburn next weekend; his other possibility is they hire Tom Jurich as AD and he brings Bobby Petrino back)

Texas A&M - Jimbo Fisher (didn't hear his reasoning for this one, but not buying it)

Fisher to A&M? :lol2: if he wouldn't leave FSU to go to LSU why the hell would he go to A&M? Clay is reaching a lot with that one.

Any chance Leach being hired by an SEC school?

Leach is a great coach but an odd dude. It would have to be the perfect fit AD wise. He definitely doesn't fit with any of the jobs currently open. Maybe if Dan Mullen leaves he could find his way to Starkville, but that's about it. He would be a better fit at Nebraska if they fail to land Scott Frost.

UCLA has fired Jim Mora. We should hear Chip Kelly's name tied to this job as well. UCLA has a ton of young talent as Mora has been recruiting well. It would be the type of job where you could compete for a conference title your first year.
