I have seen both players play several times and in my opinion Pelle is a better individual player than Middleton. Pelle is a great athlete with a good shot and explosive to the basket. Middleton just gets more exposure because of where he goes to school.

And thats the facts!

Very true. :thumb:

Pelle got snubbed by whoever does the Cats Pause rating. He is definately a top 5 player, and he will be out to prove this right away.

You know the rankings of players and teams in the UK yearbook don't really mean anything. It's the opinions of 16 different sportswriters across the state. They are giving their opinion and only because they are in the position

to do so. I may not agree with the rankings either but I'm not going to get all upset about it. Remember, we are talking about high school basketball here and equally covering every team is not going to happen. These writers have to base a lot of what they write on what they are able to see. I think the entire article on the 10th region is much better than last year's and if you remember you'll agree. So take it for what it is, one man's opinion and as the season goes along we'll see how right he is.

I remember in 2000 when the Cats Pause rated Bishop Brossart like 7th in the 10th region preseason poll. They ended up making the Elite Eight in the entire state. Anything can happen.

Does anyone have any insight on how they come up with their rankings? Coaches? Media? Or do they actually have people who have seen these teams and kids play on staff that evaluate them?

I'd be skeptical. A few years ago, they listed a CCH f00tball player as tops in the state and he ended up not starting for CCH.

The rankings come from a poll from each region's coaches.

They don't come from the coaches. They come from the media.

The 13th and 14th regions are based on coaches' votes. Other regions may be different.

I have to say the 13th and 14th Region write-ups are always done well. John Henson knows the game and does a fantastic job.

It varies region to region, but it is typically dictated by the writer of any particular region. Having all 16 regions listed allows the Catspause to market the entire state. There is nothing truly detailed about it except for the fact that it was the only magazine recognizing KY High School Basketball. However, some of the writers are very noteworthy such as Joey Fosko and Henson that was mentioned.

Could someone please post the top 10 rankings of teams and players for the 13th.
