NFL network says he will lose around $500,000 for 5 games. He is also appealing is suspension.

This is almost 1/3 of a season, this is equal to a baseball player being benched for about 51 games. This is also the longest suspension in league history for on-the-field offenses.

$500,000 is a pretty good amount. I'm satisfied with that. He needs to be suspended, at least, another 2-3 games.

Apparently, the guy has "issues." He kicked his own center in practice a while back and there was one more incident that I can't recall the specifics.

He was picked up for a wreckless driving charge not too long ago...

I was actually at the game, but did not see the incident due to stuffing my face with nachos. I did however see Haynesworth walking through the tunnel towards the locker room. It was a bizarre incident and the conquences were very much deserved.

The Stomp...

Two things:

1. Why no charges? Were there police officers in the stadium? I have a feeling that if I am at the game and get in an altercation in which I wind up stomping on someones head, I go to jail. Whats the difference?

2. Dallas, where were you guys? You have a fallen teammate that is getting his gourd crushed and no no one jumps in. Now I am not saying two wrongs make a right, but if its my buddy on the ground, I,m throwin to help the guy.

As a football player I wouldn't want to have charges pressed. As a prosecutor I would just press charges. What he did was a criminal offense football field or not. Had he done this on the street he would be facing felony assault charges.

Might be difficult to get a felony out of it. Difficult argument that a size 15 even with cleats is a deadly weapon. I do agree with the suspension however. And not to defend the guy, but the way he has shown remorse, and the fact that he personally called Gurode at least shows how you'd prefer a guy to handle it afterwards. He can't change the incident, but can at a minimum take his medicine and do the right things, which I believe he has.

I agree that it would be hard to convict of a felony, but he would at one time or another see a felony charge if he had stomped someone's head with cleats on the street.

I understand that. But I would be arrested on the spot. Whats the difference?

If Pete Rose is suspended forever and Odell Thurman is suspended for the year, I can't justify why this was only 5 games. Gambling is legal, drinking (not driving) is legal, but was against his NFL terms, yet stomping on a guys head is not and has never been legal.
