No offense intended, but that's a bit of an overstatement. I'm fairly certain that Euton, Jackson and Jackson from Rose Hill did not attend a Blue Chip Camp this summer, and yet they are on the radar... for good reason. I don't know about Thomas and McDavid from Ashland, but I'm not sure either of them attended this year.

 

No list is 100% comprehensive and accurate. At best they provide a good rule of thumb forecast of known talent. There will always be some players left off, or ranked lower or higher than perhaps they truly deserve. That does not mean that the kids who did earn a spot on this list are undeserving.

 

From what I've seen of Bolus' work, he's remarkably consistent in terms of providing coaches a good snapshot to go by. No college coach worth his salt is going to recruit a kid based solely upon one ranking alone, but it does give him some reason to give certain kids a closer look.

 

It also provides high school coaches a preview of who to look out for when matching up against certain teams.

I have never seen such inflated heights on players.

 

Some of them are overstated at least two full inches.

IMO Landon Slone is the most overrated player in the state. I have watched him play a number of times and have walked away very disappointed each time. Maybe I have caught him on bad nights and am mistaken but from what I've seen of him, he is way, way overrated.

What other 8th graders that you know of accomplished more on the varsity level? Just starting for a varsity team isnt bad in the 8th grade, who do you think is better as a 9th grader this year that will have MORE impact for their high school team?

Facts can be sobering

The Bolus rankings are way off with the senior group and even more off with the underclassmen...

 

EastBank...You obviously have not seen 6'6" Nathan Novosel of Lex Cath and 6'2" Shelvin Mack of Bryan Station, both are juniors and both belong in the top 5. But I can see the angle you are coming from. And a legit ranking would certainly have Jeff Brooks ahead of Wade who will not sign a D1 scholly and will possibly be lucky to even head to an NAIA team. Where is Beckham and Jeremy Anderson at on the senior list?

I forgot Shelvin Mack of Station..I agree he does belong on the top 5 list somewhere..It was my fault I left him out.

I'm with you man. It's nice to see someone say that they're all up there, but in reality it's just Anderson and Britt among the elite, and maybe Hudson on the fringe. Joe Hood is a good player with a lot of heart, but he is not up this high. And Avery Driver is definitely not unless he has improved massively from the last time I saw him. He is not nearly agressive enough in the post.

 

Bolus's rankings are a complete joke most of the time.

I don't see why everyone is so upset. These lists are all about how much their coaches lobby for them to be on the list. The way to get on a list like this is to have a good PR person. If you guys need one I think TO is getting ready to fire his.:jump:

Both Euton and Jackson are major D-1 prospects. They'll be playing on TV one of these days, and all insults you want to throw at them won't change things one bit...

Could they do that in other regions in Kentucky? I don't think he was bashing those kids as much as he is truthfully trying to state other kids are being unfairly passed over. How would anyone like to work hard and improved their game and legitimately have better skills than another player then others get the recognition because of who they know?

You might want to add that Rose was 1-7 in the 16th Region, zero games against any KY teams ranked in the top 25, and lost their first round district game ending their season. Two of the their wins in their 14 - 13 season was against hapless David School. I am certain I could pull some current 8th graders together this year and get the same if not better results as they did. So when you take a look at their numbers, they are just not as impressive as you would like them to be. Just an opinion.

Back to the topic, please tell me college coaches don't actually LISTEN to this guy's opinions?? While he has some obvious choices on his list, some of his picks, and more importantly his ommisions are downright laughable!!
