You might want to add that Rose was 1-7 in the 16th Region, zero games against any KY teams ranked in the top 25, and lost their first round district game ending their season. Two of the their wins in their 14 - 13 season was against hapless David School. I am certain I could pull some current 8th graders together this year and get the same if not better results as they did. So when you take a look at their numbers, they are just not as impressive as you would like them to be. Just an opinion.

If you really want to do your homework, check out the margins in those eight regional games. There was not one blow out. (Did I mention they started three 8th graders?)

 

I genuinely don’t understand how minimizing the accomplishments of some kids, is supposed to make other kids look better. If you think some other kids should be on the list you should just say so instead of tearing down the kids who did make it.

 

Personally, I’d bump Ferguson from Elliott higher up the list, but I’m not going to insult any of the kids ahead of him to do it.

Somehow, I think high school coaches do just fine scouting opponents without relying on a list like this. Good try though.

Show up to his camp pay the 400 dollars and get yourself a good rating.

I wouldnt get too worked up over Bolus's list, it just a list, he got a lot of the players right and some he missed really bad, like dropping Pettigrew down to 6? That is obvious flaw and having Wade in top ten,:sssh: and I don't know who the last two kids on the list are, but its just one guy's opinion, I would like to get a list from him of people who actually buy this list, I bet that never gets released, would cost him too many camper, he sells his camp that "hundreds" of colleges buy his ratings, and I just don't believe that.

As far as needing a good pr man to get on the list, that is not accurate, you just need to go to his camp and throw down a few dunks, that will get you on there quicker than anything.

What other 8th graders that you know of accomplished more on the varsity level? Just starting for a varsity team isnt bad in the 8th grade, who do you think is better as a 9th grader this year that will have MORE impact for their high school team?

I know 8th graders that played varsity last year and will play as freshman this year. Had a much better record then you can show. You even bragged about D1 coaches coming to Rose Hill[-which is against the rules of KHSAA] to look at freshman. Talk all you want , it is cheap. We will see this year how good they are.

Thomas and McDavid from Ashland are highly thought of, and rightfully so. Ask them if Jackson and Euton are quality players.

 

Fastbreak, I remember people minimizing OJ Mayo in his time at Rose Hill so this is nothing new.

Sweet music, indeed. Dissenters haven't started their annual assault on Rose Hill this early in the year since the "Ovinton Era". It tells me that many are apprehensive about Euton and the Jackson boys. Sweet music, indeed.

Jackson nor Euton need me to defend their play but I really just enjoy a good arguement so let me make my case.

 

First in regards to the David School. Jackson and Euton played about 2 quarters against them. Not dressing in the second game.

 

Here are some stats. Euton 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 48% fg, 79% ft. Plus he was MVP at the Buckeye Prep Showcase, and at the Junior Phenom 150 Camp in Atlanta. Member of the Daily Independent's all area team.

 

Jackson 15 points, 6 rebs, 5 asst. and shot 65% from the floor.

 

Hoopscoops currently ranks Euton #9 and Jackson #24 in the class of 2010. Now I realize that Clark Francis is also an idiot and Euton's father is paying him off but Mr. Euton did score any of their points or grab any of their rebounds.

For the record, Euton averaged a double-double in varsity competition as an 8th grader (20.1 ppg and 10.3 rpg). Ironically, I don’t recall his dad shooting one shot or raking in one rebound for him… :lol:

 

Jackson averaged 14.7 ppg and 6.8 rpg as an 8th grader playing in the guard spot.

 

Say what you will about the 16th Region, I agree that it’s not the strongest in the state, even so, those are some healty numbers for a 14 year-old and a 13 year-old playing varsity ball.

 

Ashland beat RH by 7 points in the district tournament, which coincidentally happens to be the same -7 point average margin in all 8, 16th Region games last season. Again, that was with RH starting three 8th graders.

 

There is one thing you said I do agree with:

Those numbers are just hurting the 16th Region and proving to the rest of the state that the 16th is where 7th graders can go to compete. I had a chance to see Euton in Lexington. At times, he looked lethargic, but his height gives him potential and that is certain. But you cannot fool those who have witnessed.

 

Let's take a look here...

 

Darius Miller averaged 16 per game last year and has offers from UK and UT, among others.

 

Bud Mackey averaged 12 or 13 per game and has offers from UK and others.

 

Jeff Brooks averaged just 11 per game last year and has a multitude of offers.

 

Scotty Hopson averaged just over 10 per game last season is getting offers from D1 top programs as well.

 

If points per game was any indicator, then the 16th would have about 30 players that average more than these guys and would be getting D1 offers out the wahoo. Keep things in perspective.

The only thing I'm guilty of in this thread is defending some really good kids who've worked their tails off to get where they are... I can live with that.
