Belfry 54 Newport Central Catholic 29

Final.

First of all huge thanks to Lawnboy!

I was out to dinner and unable to listen tonight and he kept the game updated play by play. One of the best on here for game updates!

Would love to know the stats.

Belfry moved the ball at will but had 4 or 5 turnovers. The defense sounds like it played better tonight, especially against the run. Always nice to go on the road against a solid program like NCC and have a good showing. Need to do a better job of ball security, big time.

Belfry has a lot of playmakers and they are going to be trouble for any 3A defense.

Taveon Hunter with a long TD run, a TD reception and a TD kick return packed into his night's work. He may not be on many people's radar, but the kid is a great high school RB. He has had a very good start to the season.

The report I got on this one was that Belfry looked "alright". A little bit of the same as what we have seen all year. When the Offense was holding on to the ball they were a machine, but braindead moments and lack of protecting the football continues to cost Belfry points and give the opposition points.

From what I gather Belfry subbed pretty heavily throughout the 2nd Half after going up by 30. NewCath added a couple scores on the reserves to tighten the margin.

Hunter made big plays, Wellman did what Wellman does, and the Defensive line actually showed signs of improvement in the pass rush department.

Not a clean performance by Belfry but a very high quality win against a solid program after a long road trip.

Also heard the NewCath QB looked good at times and made some really nice throws and did good things with his feet.

Belfry now gets a lightened stretch of their schedule where they should be able to focus heavily on fundamentals before it cranks back up again down the road.

My Pleasure. :thumb:

Pirates beat a decent Newport Central team handily despite 3 or 4 fumbles and an interception. Off and Def lines improved drastically, QB Browning otherwise was 4 for 5 passing and take you pick on running backs. Speed, power OR speed AND power! Better competition ahead. Need to hold onto the pigskin! I think you WILL see a difference next game! Coach Haywood righting the Pirate Ship! A good lecture and a little super glue will take care of the fumbling! With Corbin and Central suffering losses I think Belfry is as good as anyone in 3-A. Still got Pikeville, (a rivalry game), Cabell Midland and Johnson Central. Probably two of them losses BUT gaining confidence and playing great team ball. Really think they can play with anyone in 3-A. Keep em walking the plank and get that thumb ring!

#14 from NCC had great catches an was behind belfry's dbs all night long. But belfry has a offense that just don't miss a beat! Good luck the rest of the way to both teams!

Take this a a grain of salt for NCC. They will be there in December. As much as I despise NCC they will be there.

They will beat Pikeville like a drum. Who knows about Midland? Central should be a decent game. Belfry is still the team to beat in 3A.

Belfry was 4/5 passing for 65 yards and a TD

They rushed for 355 yards

Haywood better be careful, they will run him out of town if he keeps throwing so much :lol2:
