Mark Foley

Bill Clinton in the Oval Office, Joseph Kennedy in a car, William Jefferson in a freezer, Mark Foley on the interenet, Dennis Hastert who at the very least let a situation slide that warranted more investigation, etc., etc, etc. WHY DO WE PUT UP WITH THIS FOOLISHNESS???? These people, regardless of their political party, are our chosen leaders! When do we say, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!" If you need to be in rehab for a substance abuse problem, what are you doing in Congress, making the rules for the rest of us to live by? Throw the bums out. Don't defend them, don't say one is worse than the other, GET RID OF THEM! None of them deserve our respect, much less our support. We should be more interested in taking our government back, instead of arguing Democrats are more immoral than Republicans, or vice versa. I am officially putting my representatives on notice, you get caught with somebody else's wife, daughter or son, you get caught slapping a Congressional police officer, you get accused of a crime, any crime, and it appears that you have put yourself in a situation that there is validity to that accusation, you in any way stray from the straight and narrow, I don't care what party you belong to, what rehab you check into, how sincere your apology to your wife, family, friends and supporters sound, I am going to use my meager influence vote you out when I get the chance.

WHO IS WITH ME?

I'm with you.:thumb: Good post.

I think that the fact that the extreme far right is calling for this, as well as others in the republican party speaks volumes. Remember, the extreme far right are the same ones who got the republicans, including Bush, in office, do you really want to play games with them? Foley's district is very heavily republican, but top republicans have stated they are already giving up on that district? Unless some republicans wake up this could be a domino effect.

I find it interesting that we are talking about a 16 year old page, yet people want to bring up Clinton's affairs with a 22 year old adult. Lets stick with now, this is something serious, an affair with a 22 year old is not.

As Fastbreak, a republican, stated in post #3. The political aspects of this is secondary.

A party that thinks they are closer to God, Kid's and family than the democrats? It's not only what Foley did, it's that others tried to cover it up, looking out for one of their own, including the speaker of the house, it's time to clean house! BTW, this kid is now getting threats now too.

I find it sad, that when some brings some of this stuff up, that some people start talking about Clinton, Monica, and how he was married. Sad, just sad you can't see that there is a HUGE difference between a 16 year old and a 22 year old adult. A HUGE difference between a page (a high school kid), and an intern (a college student).

Nice post. They have no other straws to grasp...so they dig up all the ancient history they can find to avoid confronting the real issues.

No, you keep accusing us of defending Foley when in reality, Democrats have the real track record for covering up and forgiving their child molestors.

I disagree and I disagree.

I disagree and I disagree.

Then please explain how Gerry Studds was re-elected AFTER and affair with a 17 year old page if Dems didn't just ignore it. Not only did he not resign, he was re-elected. That's pathetic.

We wouldn't have to dig it up, if you guys weren't so eager to bury it.

Every event that has been attributed to Dems in this thread happened in my lifetime and are completely relevant to this situation.

I certainly don't consider stuff that happened less than 15 years ago "ancient."

The stuff Foley is accused of doing pales by comparison to what Clinton did with Lewinsky, or what Gerry Studds did with a 17 year-old male page.

According to Lewinsky, she and the President had phone sex about 15 times. Actually listening to one another's voices is far more intimate than any text message. We also know that some Clinton phone-sex sessions took place on non-secure phone lines — creating the possibility for eavesdropping by foreign agents which could have compromised both Clinton and national security.

I'll say it again, Foley is a weasel. He needed to go. He needs to be prosecuted if there's something to prosecute.

Why can't Democrats simply admit that Clinton, Studds et. al. were also weasels deserving of punishment for their misdeeds?

The fact that they can't and won't makes all this supposed moral outrage over Foley nothing more than a bunch of political baloney... get over it.

Maybe the other canidate was really really bad ???????

Five elections in a row??? Granted he was from Massachusetts and the first gay congressman.

Word has it that Hastert know he had a pedophile in his ranks and compromised him. Not a theoretical situation like yours, and acctual situation which guaranteed his vote on EVERY ISSUE as well as how much and to what organizations he would donate to. This is not confirmed yet, but I understand it is part of the investigation into Hastret.

Mark my words, the Dems are gonna get bit by this big time... :thumb:

I disagree and I disagree.

Bill Clinton pardoned Democrat Mel Reynolds from Illionois after he was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault with a 16 year old.

Heck the democratic party only offered up two party votes for censure whenbarney Frank hired a male prostitute to runs a service from his residence.

Here's a little list of the Top 10 Democrat Sex Scandals in Congress I found at humanevents.com:

10. Sen. Daniel Inouye. The 82-year-old Hawaii Democrat was accused in the 1990s by numerous women of sexual harassment. Democrats cast doubt on the allegations and the Senate Ethics Committee dropped its investigation.

9. Former Rep. Gus Savage. The Illinois Democrat was accused of fondling a Peace Corps volunteer in 1989 while on a trip to Africa. The House Ethics Committee decided against disciplinary action in 1990.

8. Rep. Barney Frank. The outspoken Massachusetts Democrat hired a male prostitute who ran a prostitution service from Frank’s residence in the 1980s. Only two Democrats in the House of Representatives voted to censure him in 1990.

7. Former Sen. Brock Adams. The late Washington Democrat was forced to stop campaigning after numerous accusations of drugging, assault and rape, the first surfacing in 1988.

6. Former Rep. Fred Richmond. This New York Democrat was arrested in 1978 for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old. He remained in Congress and won re-election—before eventually resigning in 1982 after pleading guilty to tax evasion and drug possession.

5. Former Rep. John Young. The late Texas Democrat increased the salary of a staffer after she gave in to his sexual advances. The congressman won re-election in 1976 but lost two years later.

4. Former Rep. Wayne Hays. The late Ohio Democrat hired an unqualified secretary reportedly for sexual acts. Although he resigned from Congress, the Democratic House leadership stalled in removing him from the Administration Committee in 1976.

3. Former Rep. Gerry Studds. He was censured for sexual relationship with underage male page in 1983. Massachusetts voters returned him to office for six more terms.

2. Former Rep. Mel Reynolds. The Illinois Democrat was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault with a 16-year-old. President Bill Clinton pardoned him before leaving office.

1. Sen. Teddy Kennedy. The liberal Massachusetts senator testified in defense of nephew accused of rape, invoking his family history to win over the jury in 1991.

Hadn't you heard that's ancient history. Please stay on current topics.

Well we probably shouldn't dig up Mary Jo Kopechne.
