I don't know why some of the Mayfield fans keep acting surprised about their team this year. Not sure if it's sandbagging or what, but after the Union City game, their should not be a team on the schedule that gives the Cards a game for more more than the first quarter or 2.

So if I saw every game, every year, I'd be a pessimist, regardless of the fact that Mayfield is in the championship game what seems like every year and it's rare that anyone gives them a regular season loss?

Cards starting d has only allowed 2 scores this year. A long pass by Hoptown to about the 3 and a sustained drive by PT tonight

Seriously though, this win is nothing to yawn at. That's a really good PT team full of speed, size, talent, and stud athletes. I'm sure MF fans will find something to nitpick, because that's just what we do, but this was an impressive victory from top to bottom.

 

Credit to both teams. Hard fought and very physical throughout.

I agree about the hard hits, PT had few hard hits too.

Well, speaking for myself only, after losing a record setting 3 year QB, and a record setting 4 year starter at RB, and 3 very good linebackers, I was concerned about the first part of the schedule for sure. I am pleasantly surprised at how well we look right now, especially on offense.

No one said anything about looking past them, but the remarks about how surprised at the talent on the team is silly. And it's like this every year nearly. And none of those teams should be within 2 TD's of Mayfield.

 

When you lose alot of players and you haven't really seen what the team is capable of, it's easy to doubt. There was a ton of question marks going in and they keep answering them. I'm more excited about Corbin though. I think that will be our biggest test.

So saying this team is a better version than others makes us all pessimist in other years. Plus, you need to do some more homework if you think 2A football is the same beast as what we conquered in 1A

Since Mayfield went on that run beginning in 2009 thru 2015, I believe they could have won it all in 2a as well as 1a with a couple of exceptions, maybe.. The one year that Desales won it(2013 maybe?) and the year Ft Campbell won it(2009).. In those 2 years, we would have been underdogs.. The other years we'd have been the favorite or, at least, even odds.. In saying that, yes, 2A is a different animal.. Better quality teams in the early rounds and teams with 5a and 6a talent in the late rounds.. The thing is, though, I feel Mayfield has adjusted and stepped it's game up a notch or 2 and are playing at a little higher level to compensate for that higher competition level.. I think the coaches and players enjoy that underdog role and love the challenge of it..

I thought the Cardinals were supposed to be a little down this year. I thought wrong obviously.

How about the play on defense last night of Mayfield's #16 Kyle Jerk. Jerk had a great game. Way to play Jerk!
