How about the play on defense last night of Mayfield's #16 Kyle Jerk. Jerk had a great game. Way to play Jerk!

What am I missing here?

I'm going to tell you someone else who played outstanding last nite, # 73 Devin Jeffries lit some people up! Shout out to the big guy!

What am I missing here?

The PA guy called him Kyle Jurt (and it did sound like Jerk)...all night long. I had to leave the game just a little early, so I tuned in the Tornado broadcast, and they were calling him the same thing on there! LOL...cmon guys, it's not like you haven't seen him before.

Ok thanks, I didn't catch that, with my hearing being what it is.

Also, kudos to the kicking game. Making big strides since the summer. First two fields goals of the season and pinning them at their own 3 on the kickoff.

I got laughed at over the summer when I said MF's defense this year had the potential to be as good, if not better, than last year's. I'm old fashioned and still believe HS defensive football starts with stopping the run and this year's version appears better equipped in that department. They aren't there yet, but it's just week 3, so long way to go and time will tell. I will say this, the current defense is better right now than last year's Arnett-less version that lost that last game. Will it be enough to close the gap with the top tier in 2a? Again, it's still early and time will tell.

So saying this team is a better version than others makes us all pessimist in other years. Plus' date=' you need to do some more homework if you think 2A football is the same beast as what we conquered in 1A[/quote']

Go back and re-read the post you originally quoted.

This has become trivial at this point. Rereading the post doesn't change anything, but thanks for admiring Mayfield football from afar.

I was complimenting their team and saying I didn't see the point in being pessimistic every year. And it's not admiring, it's being a realist.

You played great last night :thumb:

Since Mayfield went on that run beginning in 2009 thru 2015, I believe they could have won it all in 2a as well as 1a with a couple of exceptions, maybe.. The one year that Desales won it(2013 maybe?) and the year Ft Campbell won it(2009).. In those 2 years, we would have been underdogs.. The other years we'd have been the favorite or, at least, even odds.. In saying that, yes, 2A is a different animal.. Better quality teams in the early rounds and teams with 5a and 6a talent in the late rounds.. The thing is, though, I feel Mayfield has adjusted and stepped it's game up a notch or 2 and are playing at a little higher level to compensate for that higher competition level.. I think the coaches and players enjoy that underdog role and love the challenge of it..

1A or 2AA their pre district schedule shows how good they are each year.

With the credentials of Hurt it is a shame that any announcer doesn't know his name

Do your homework and this doesn't happen is all I can say

Folks...Mayfield is legit... again

Huh? Again or always, I'm getting to be old and they have been a threat pretty much every year to bring it home in the last half century. Just messing with u. I know u meant it as a compliment
