What fields are a disaster or nearly a disaster after the games tonight?

Featured Replies

I am interested to see how many fields are totaled for the year after tonight.

Guru I think this is a awesome thread. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm going to make an early guess that Garrard County is in danger.

I would estimate that the number of turf fields outnumbers the grass fields by more than we think.

In NKY all have turf except Dayton, Bellevue, Ludlow, Boone, Conner, Cooper, Lloyd right? Turf at BW, Highlands, CovCath, Dixie, SK, Ryle, Newport/NCC, Holmes/HC, WV, Campbell/Brossart.

@theguru How many are you expecting?

With a lot of schools playing on turf fields tonight and tomorrow I don't see it being that many. Also a good grounds crew and the type of grass used will do wonders considering it's so early in the season. It's hard to destroy a bermuda field this early in the season.

Good point here. Not as much of an issue with more and more adding turf, they are now the majority. To answer the question, those without it that are played on tonight, will be a disaster.

Ideally none, at the end of the day it is going to be tax dollars paying to repair damage that could have and should have been avoided.

Grass seed is cheap and a lot of ground crews are volunteers. Also most natural grass fields are bermuda, which at this time of year can take a beating. When is starts getting cool out is when the bermuda shows it's weakness.

Grass doesn't grow overnight and we are quickly moving to the Fall.

The grass fields...and cheers to the teams who have small, nimble footed skill position players, who nimbly walk on mud and water!

:lol2:

Not sure about fields, but some games (potential unbelievable match ups) have this going for them.

Prep football: @CHBruinFootball and CAL each had 3 possessions in 1st qtr ... CAL 8 yards. CH 5 yards

I'm going to say majority playing on natural grass will be junk tomorrow! But IMO that is football!

Soccer coaches aren't happy tonight.
