State Farm....what a joke

Featured Replies

Good luck if you have State Farm and you have an older home. On July 29th, a tree limb fell on our house. It took TEN days to get an adjustor to our house to assess the damages. We have 2 bids for repairs, with both being over 15k. The adjustor sends an estimate of 6k with below market pricing on materials and labor. They call us 2 weeks ago to see which contractor we wanted to use. The representative stated that he would call the contractor w/in 2 or 3 days. A week later, he finally calls....then heads on vacation. Nobody on his team can help us out. I hate insurance companies. I hate dealing with them in transportation/claims disputes and I truly despise them now.

You are not in good hands with Allstate, Nationwide is not on your side and State Farm is not your neighbor.

Switch to Grange. I had a lightning strike claim that was handled very professionally and within 4 days.

I had no issues with State Farm when getting a new roof and new siding from storm damage. It took a little while, but they covered everything.

I just had my roof and gutters replaced due to storm damage. State Auto's adjustor was out next day to look everything over. He determined there was storm damage, and we had the money sent to our account in 48 hours.

I've been with State Farm for vehicle insurance for my entire driving life (I'm 42 now) and for our home owners since buying our first house in 2003. I wouldn't use a different company. Nothing but good to say. Could be the agents we've had though.

Try giving Serve Pro a call. Their bread and butter is insurance repair. They frequently have inside tracks with insurance companies, and know what needs to be done to get the repair handled within the insurance company's parameters.

Which is why I am so confused on why it took them 10 days to get a guy to us.

Doesn't seem like there is any good reason for things to be so slow. I was shocked at how quickly things went for my roof/gutter replacement. I had gone through this process 15 years ago, and it took about 3 weeks for everything to go through. This time I got the notification of payment from my insurance company the same day, and the only reason it took the extra day to get the funds was because I had to set up and verify the account with the payment company they used.

You can get insurance on line or thru an agent. If you are using an agent, he is your first call. If you are not getting service he gets another call. You pay for their service. Bug the heck out of them. That is why they are getting a commission.

State farm and alstate are horrible.

liberty mutual sucks.

If you can get it, USAA is awesome!

Multiple incidents over the years, and all handled rapidly (understatement).

Auto, but still... Had a traffic case dismissed against daughter. The guy she hit (his car) wouldn't go to court to testify. He had already been paid and car repaired. He told prosecutor that he had no reason to go.

No one else saw her attempt a u-turn on columbia pkwy.

***wrong turn. GPS told her to turn around. So she did!

You need to contact your agent. Your agent needs to know this sort of conflict happened to you. They need to go to bat for you because this sort of customer service shouldn't be tolerated with State Farm or any other insurance company.

This is also all the more reason to form a relationship with the people you are sending, in a lot of cases, hundreds of dollars to every month.

I had Met Life and got a new roof, new HVAC unit, some new siding and gutters after the hail storm a few years back.

I now have Farm Bureau.
