No suprise here, though I am really starting to wonder if Johnson Central's regular season succes is more window dressing than actual substance.

Part of the reason JC's opponents have such a "stellar" record is because JC is responsible for 7 of those losses. Ashland's key Putnam wins came against good 2A teams, but not great teams, and teams I believe Johnson Central would easily beat. Central could have beaten Paintsville 100-0 tonight. Midway through the second quarter, up 49-0, Coach Matney showed his class rather discreetly, by experimenting with the pass, containment D, holding Grim back, etc.

 

Okay. But take away those 7 games as losses and add them as wins and their combined record is still 16-16, not exactly a fantastic record.

North Laurel, Bryan Station, the South Point JC played, would IMO all beat Ashland. Look at the competition those teams have played.

Sounds like Johnson Central will have some great facilities in the near future. I was just wondering where the funding for this projects come from, and I don't see any mention of improvement towards any of the girls programs. I think we both know that could be a problem.

I think that JCBOE bought some property close to the school, and I think that a soccer field will be built there. The girls sports should all be fine. JC offers girls basketball, softball, swimming (JC put a brand new pool in this year), cheerleading, track, xc, soccer, golf and volleyball. I am also hearing talk of a tennis team for both boys and girls. So that is 10 boys sports and 10 girls sports.

JC will be ready to play Ashland. They have a very tough district game next friday night vs. Greenup County. After JC plays Greenup County, then they have an open week. So this talk of already having the game won is crazy. If it all went down like it was supposed to, why play the game?

I think even Watusi has mentioned time and time again that Matney would not end up at Belfry. I really can't figure you out 'joe. For parts of the season you have seemed genuine saying nice things about the JC porogram and then for some unknown reason then you become the oneijoe of old. The joe that cant help but to throw in that envious jab( et. $$$$...sure does good things) that you have worn out over the years or that other worn out (just wait till Haywood leaves) comment. You must stay awake night after night after night worring about coach Matney and how the JCBOE spends it's money. You sure harp and whine around enough about it. Does just the thought of coach Matney haunt you so much that it has taken control of your life?

Central was a big disappointment for a VERY long time (with all the advantages money can bring) when I really wanted to see them turn into THE "big school" EKY power. You'll just have to excuse me for taking awhile to warm up to present turnaround... I am getting there, though...

They have "great facilities" now (and have had them for years)...

 

If they go ahead with the field turf for the football and baseball fields, I'm sure they'll re-do the softball field, too.

 

To my knowledge, "funding" has never been a problem with anything they want to do.

Some Ashland fans are determined to give the underdog role in their upcoming game to Johnson Central. After losing to 1A Raceland and being forced into overtime to beat two 2A teams on its home field, one would think that the Tomcat fans would be happy to play the underdog role for a change. It just doesn't seem fair to allow Coach Matney to play the underdog card during the two weeks that he and his staff will have to prepare for its home game with Ashland.

 

Barring any injuries during next week's Greenup County game, Johnson Central should be at full strength when it plays Ashland. Starting quarterback JK Ratliff will have had three weeks to ease back into the lineup, running back Chase Richardson will be on hand, and Blake Johnson will be on hand to punish would-be Tomcat tacklers again.

 

The Paintsville team that Johnson Central dismantled Friday night is really not much different from the Tiger teams that so often gave past Golden Eagle teams fits in the annual Apple Bowl. Daniel Pugh is one of the top quarterbacks in the mountains and Paintsville has several other outstanding individual players.

 

Johnson Central is beginning to realize the potential that has always been there. Johnson Central should be better next season than this season, and may be even better two seasons from now. It is really sweet of some Ashland fans to let the Golden Eagles hang onto its underdog role, but I cannot imagine this year's JC team losing a home game to Raceland.

Laugh it up now. We havent even seen a game this year where JC is at full strength in terms of having all its players in. Ask Coach Hart how hard is going to be to game plan for the Offense of JC. JC has used a different rotation in almost every game this year. Your day is 3 weeks and you arent in Putnam Stadium this year either. I believe that Ashland will give JC its best game this year on its regular season schedule but believe me you will not be questioning JC's strength of schedule after playing them.
