I worry about it because I expect that the Rockets will be playing them in the region this year. Do I have to be a JC fa nto post on their threads? NO. I am a fan of KY High School Football, there is no better sport than that of Friday Night Lights. I have stayd in tune with programs all over the state, therefore, I can comment on them. I reserached the opponents they played and looked at their schedule even the hard to find out of state schools. What does it matter me, because of what I said earlier. Just because you ddn't come on here and post on Rock's thread doesn't mean I don't have an invitation to come onto this one.

I think that when a fan of a team with the 111th ranked SOS questions the weak schedule of a team with the 118th ranked SOS (Massey's ranks, as of today), it is fair to ask the following questions:

 

1. Do you think Rockcastle's weak schedule will hurt their chances of winning the region?

 

...and...

 

2. If not, then why do you think that Johnson Central's schedule places them at a disadvantage?

 

Note that had a CovCath or Highlands fan raised the question, the thought of researching their team's SOS would not have occured to me. I don't think that JC's schedule will hurt them at all through the regional finals (if they make it that far), because your district schedule is just as weak as the Golden Eagles' district schedule. Whoever wins the region this year will be challenged in at least one or two playoff games, so to me the whole strength of schedule question is a non-issue.

 

Both Ashland and Bell County are playing a schedule that is marginally stronger than either Johnson Central or Rockcastle County. Do you believe that the difference is great enough to make Ashland a favorite over JC or Bell over Rockcastle? I don't.

"Johnson Central celebrated its 56-6 Apple Bowl win Friday night at Paintsville's Memorial Field. The Golden Eagles topped the tigers for the 3rd consecutive year, notching their first three-peat in the 33-year history of the apple bowl. Paintsville leads the all-time series 20-13."

 

Why is that important? The scoring is 154-18 (JC) for the past three apple bowls. In 8 more years the total wins will be 21-20, with JC leading.

JC must beat Ashland and either Bell or Rockcastle. Rockcastle must beat Bell and Ashland or JC. There is an excellent chance that both Rockcastle and JC will be playing in the regional title game and I don't hear anybody criticizing the Rock's weak schedule.

I never brought Rockcastle into the equation. I think Bell County wins the region again. I've just read several JC fans defending their schedule, and quite frankly, I can't see it. Never said a word about Rockcastle.

Whats my beef... I graduated from JC, that should be reason enough. Paintsville beat us my senior apple bowl, that will ALWAYS leave a bad taste in your mouth. No matter what, they (Paintsville) can always say that they were better than us (JC). You have to be a graduate from either school to really understand this rivarly.

IF JC can keep everybody healthy, get some lucky bounes and breaks here and there... they have will be in the state title game. Winning state is a HUGE challenge for any team. JC has the coaches and players to win every game they play this season, they just have to bring it when they are under the lights!

There are schools that have been there and done that year in and year out and know what it takes to win the big games. Then there are schools that are riding a good wave for the last year or so who still have a lot to prove. JC is in the "still have a lot to prove" category. Rock is a "been there done that school." If you travel to CovCath and beat them on their own field, that's making a statement. What is JC's "statement game"?

 

Weak schedule with 30-40 pt blowouts will not help them when they start playing the traditional powers.

I understand how bitter rivalries work. I've been involved with a few more bitter than this one. If Paintsville leads the all time series, and the numbers they printed were a fact, what's the problem? You're questioning a fact about the series.
