I hate to say it but that is about the way I thought it would go. I almost always pull for the class A schools.

This game was not nearly as close as the final score indicates. It could've been a lot, lot worse. That's all that needs to be said about that. Was 49-0 at the half. The running clock in the second half ran a whole lot and it ran real fast.

 

Six touchdowns for Shawn Grim, I believe. Was around 250 rushing for 5 TDs and caught a screen pass for 34 yards and one more TD.

 

J.K. Ratliff came in and played the first series of the second half. Didn't throw the ball, just took three snaps and gave it off, but good to see the Deuce back up and at 'em.

Ashland looks good but JC seems to be the class of this district this year.

I know what you mean, but I'll have to say that the final score doesn't indicate that it was close at all. Glad to see the Eagles beat the Tigers!

JC is the team to beat in Eastern Ky IMO.

Ashland looks good but JC seems to be the class of this district this year.

 

I believe before this game the combined records of the opponents JC has beaten this year is a stellar 9-23. :eek: It would be nice to how they stack up against a good team. On the other hand Ashland opponents have a combined record of 22-11 I believe, its close to that anyway. I cant find Portsmouth West's record, but I believe they are 3-3...

Yeah, its kind of unfortunate that we won't get to see them play a good team until the playoffs.

I am not sure how good Ashland is, but you will get a close look at the Golden Eagles soon enough. JC is much improved over last year's team. It will be nice to see how Ashland plays against a good 3A team.

No, its just a legitimate question. I didnt know this fact until someone told me today, but it really makes you stop and think about the level of competition they have faced so far.

I think that the time has come to pull the plug on this series. Three straight blowout wins by the Golden Eagles and the future looks like more of the same. The Apple Bowl used to hold some suspense for fans of both teams, but Matney's arrival pretty much ended that. Games like this one do neither team much good.

It creates a huge shot in the arm for both school's athletic budgets is about all you can say. That in itsself may be what keeps the series alive.
