Haught and Bishop both had big games.Holmes could not stop them.S.K. could not stop Holmes in the second half. There speed was killing S.K. the Pioneers were looky to get out of there with a win.:ylsuper:

I knew SK's ground game would punish Holmes all night, and also Holmes speed would kill SK. All in all, great game men. You played one heck of a game.

Glad to see both teams playing well but also happy SK came away with the W. Winning record in district play looks very possible.

Now that I'm done with work, here's a few thoughts.

1. DJ needs to be the QB full time. Not sure why he wasn't there in the 1st half, but I wonder how this would have played out if he was.

2. Don't kick anywhere that Holmes can field it. Period. If you can't put it in the endzone, find the closest point out of bounds and kick it there.

3. Elbert reminds me of Matt O'Toole to an extent. I was very impressed with how he kept his cool, and lead his team back when Holmes made their charge.

4. Hats off to both coaching staffs. The game was well played, and both teams displayed great sportsmanship. A total joy to call this one.

I'm sure I'll have more...

I had my "Reggie Bush" face on the entire second half. It's fun to expect the unexpected every once in a while...

I wouldn't say it was Holmes speed on the offensive side of the ball that killed SK as much as their ability to break through the arm tackles by SK..

I decided to attend this one and wasn't disappointed.

A cousin of mine was part of the 1946 Championship Football team that was honored before the game. Pretty neat little set up for the oldtimers. Plus, I didn't think going to the Scott game would have been worth the money.

My thoughts was that SK was on the verge of knocking Holmes out after a bruising opening drive, a 3 and out, and another quick score, then forced a punt. But the deflected punt was fumbled by a SK player then recovered by Holmes. Holmes finally balanced itself and got on the board.

The second half was really fun to watch. Holmes was breaking tackles and getting outside. The Miller kid for Holmes can really run.

Great action inside the last 5 minutes of the game.

SK had a great two minute drive and in my opinion actually helped themselves with an illegal procedure penalty on the Holmes 5 yard on 4th down. It seemd to give them a little more room. Then Elbert hit Gibson on a slant and converted the PAT.

Then for whatever reason SK squibbed it and Jefferson picked up the ball and motored his way and if it werent for a shoestring tackle he was headed to the endzone. I couldn't believe SK just didn't kick it out of bounds. Ball on the 40 Jefferson bobbled the snap and fired a pass down the far sideline and somehow the Holmes receiver was all by himself and it went off his hands to end the game. He catches it, could have walked into the endzone.

A really fun game...

SK rebounded nicely, Elbert throws a nice ball but looks like he gets happy feet in the pocket. I think SK should have stayed with the run more in the third quarter because Elbert got stripped or sacked practically every pass attempt he tried to make in the second half, until the last drive.

Holmes looked like they really had the option going in the second half.

Money well spent, considering my Eagles got torched.

Nice post, a great game on both sides sorry my Dawgs had to go down like that my nephew plays for Holmes and called me after the game and gave me the exact same recount of the ending and it was hard to hear the disapointment in his voice the Dawgs really wanted the win but like I told him they proved they are good enough to play with any of the 4a teams and it was a good bounce back game after the Ryle game.

I didn't see the margin being this close, but its like i said, Holmes can either be the best team in NKY or the worst in the state. It looks like they just didn't have enough this game. dang:D O and by the way Tommy Gibson is the man!

Hats off to Holmes in this game I didnt think they could keep it close or even have a chance to win in this game but they proved me wrong.

In High School Football if you kick out of bounds one of the options the receiving team has is moving the ball back 5 yards (35 yard line) and make the kicking team KICK AGAIN.

so kicking out of bounds is not a good thing to do.

Not too happy about the loss for Holmes but this was an amazing game.

Sounds like one fan was right on about the prediction of a high scoring game, and I was almost right on, had Gibson not made that last second catch. Congrats to both teams an a game well played.

This is what high school football is all about. I hope this sent a message to everyone that both of these teams are VERY dangerous offensively.

Or bad defensivly.

So, what do you do Coach? You don't have the leg to kick it long, and they have 4 guys back there that can take it deep on you. Just keep playing the odds, and losing field position???

If you're truly worried that your KO team cannot maintain their lanes, pooch it.

I vote out of bounds. They're to dangerous.
